The Washington Huskies have had an increased reputation over the last several seasons since Jedd Fisch took over as head coach, on both the recruiting trail and the transfer portal.

One of the most successful positions for the Huskies in both the portal and recruiting trail has been running back.

When Fisch was hired, he and running backs/assistant head coach Scottie Graham were able to bring Jonah Coleman from the coaches' previous destination of the Arizona Wildcats.

Coleman led the team in rushing for the last two seasons and was picked by the Denver Broncos in the 2026 MLB Draft.

Washington still has yet to determine who will take over for Coleman as the team's primary ball carrier next season. The program will have recruits Quad Carr Jr., Brian Bonner, Jordan Washington and Ansue Sanoe and transfer portal additions Trey Cooley and Jayden Limar all vying for first-string reps.

It won't be until training camp concludes that the Huskies will have an idea who among that crop will be the primary running back going into the 2026 season, but Fisch and Graham have already made sure that the stream of talent at running back will continue to flow in subsequent seasons.

Washington has one running back commitment from the Class of 2027: four-star Jeremy Adeyanju from Sandra Day O'Connor High School in Glendale, Ariz. He's ranked as the 338th-best overall player, 23rd-best running back and seventh-best player in Arizona in the class, per the 247Sports composite.

Graham and Fisch are continuing their efforts in getting running back talent beyond next year.

Washington has reportedly extended an offer to four-star running back Noel Washington.

Washington is ranked as the 288th-best overall player, 21st-best running back and 22nd-best player in California per the 247Sports composite.

Washington has impressive family ties, including his father Leon Washington, who's one of the greatest return specialists in NFL history.

Leon Washington had a nine-season NFL career with the New York Jets, Seattle Seahawks, New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans. Since then, the elder Washington has embarked on a successful coaching career which has included stints in various roles with the Detroit Lions and the Jets. He's currently the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach with NCAA Division II school Central State.

The younger Washington is likely too young to remember his father's time in Seattle, which spanned from 2010-12, but Leon Washington had an eventful three-year career in the Pacific Northwest.

Washington had a franchise-record four kickoffs returned for touchdowns with the Seahawks, including two in one game against the San Diego Chargers on Sept. 26, 2010.
