Myles Gaskin, the all-time leading rusher in Huskies history, is calling it a career.
The Washington Huskies football team has several players who were on the team last year set for big roles with their current respective NFL franchises. Others are still looking out to carve a spot on the 53-man roster before the 2026-27 season begins.
In the same breath, several former Huskies are officially calling it a career.
Former Washington edge rusher Joe Tryon-Shoyinka and wide receiver Ja'Lynn Polk both retired from football offseason after dealing with a variety of injuries.
On Wednesday, another former Husky called it a career.
Running back Myles Gaskin announced his retirement from the NFL and football in a post on his official Instagram account Wednesday. One the same day, he stopped by his alma mater's home turf of Husky Stadium in Seattle.
Gaskin spent seven seasons in the NFL with a variety of teams, including the Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings, Los Angeles Rams, Jacksonville Jaguars, Baltimore Ravens and Seattle Seahawks.
Gaskin's last stint in the NFL was with the Seahawks. He signed with the team Oct. 1, 2025, and was up-and-down from the practice squad and active roster before ultimately being released Dec. 13. He played in one game for Seattle and received a trio of carries for six yards.
The 29-year-old tailback finished his professional career with a total of 361 carries for 1,361 yards and seven touchdowns. He caught 101 passes for 701 yards and another six scores.
Gaskin's final stop being with the Seahawks was a fitting end for the career of a player who's entire life, football and otherwise, has been tied to the Pacific Northwest.
Gaskin was born in Lynnwood, Wash., just north of Seattle. He went to high school at O'Dea in Seattle before staying in his home city with Washington.
While with his hometown Huskies, Gaskin etched his name into the program record books.
Gaskin played four seasons with Washington from 2015-18. During that time, he was a three-time All-Pac-12 selection. He was named to the second team twice (2017-18) and the first team once (2016).
Gaskin was an immediate impact player as a true freshman. His first year of college ball in '15, he played in 13 games and rushed 227 times for 1,302 yards and 14 touchdowns. He finished his college career with a total of 945 carries for 5,323 yards and 57 touchdowns. He caught another 65 passes for 465 yards and five touchdowns.
Gaskin's rushing yards and touchdowns are the most in program history.
