The Washington Huskies football team has the honor of being the last-ever winners of the Los Angeles Bowl.

The Huskies beat the Boise State Broncos 38-10 in the last L.A. Bowl on Dec. 13.

Then-sophomore quarterback Demond Williams Jr. was named the Offensive MVP and then-junior linebacker Xe'ree Alexander was named the Defensive MVP.

The L.A. Bowl originally came to be in 2019 as a way for the Mountain West champion (if they hadn't made a New Year's Six bowl), to take on the fifth-seeded team in the Pac-12.

The bowl game was signed under a five-year agreement with the first set to begin in 2020 and the last set to be played in 2025. (The 2020 edition of the LA Bowl was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic).

Since then, the college football landscape has undergone a complete shift since the original contract was signed.

Every team that was in the Pac-12 at the time of the agreement being signed in 2019, with the exception of Washington State and Oregon State, has joined a new conference.

Washington, Oregon, UCLA and Southern California (USC) joined the Big Ten; Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah joined the Big 12 and Cal and Stanford joined the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

Since that move, several Mountain West teams have also moved conferences and have joined the new Pac-12.

Due to the large wave of conference realignment, the original arrangement of highest-seeded Mountain West team vs. fifth-seeded Pac-12 squad changed. In 2024, the first season most of the aforementioned teams were in their new conferences, Cal played UNLV.

Now, the Huskies could find themselves involved in another bowl situation and facing teams that bare the Pac-12 logo.

According to a post on "X" from On3 Sports reporter Brett McMurphy, the Poinsettia Bowl is finalizing a deal that will have the "new" Pac-12 champion (if they don't make the College Football Playoff) take on a Pac-12 "legacy" team. The legacy group reportedly includes Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Colorado, Oregon, Stanford, UCLA, USC and Washington.

The current Pac-12 football members are comprised of Oregon State, Washington State, Boise State, Fresno, Colorado State, San Diego State, Texas State and Utah State.

In that structure, there's a chance that the Huskies could take on the Broncos again for a second-consecutive season.

The Poinsettia Bowl was last played in 2016. It was played from 1952-55 as a military bowl, then from 2005-16 as an NCAA bowl. The new iteration of the bowl is set to be played at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego.
