The Washington Huskies men's basketball team will enter this upcoming season with several international recruits on the roster.

The Huskies will have four players on the roster out of 14 committed to the team from overseas: Nikola Dzepina, who joined the program last winter (from Serbia), forward Wini Braga (Brazil), guard Tristan Devers (Australia) and forward Boris Tisma (Croatia).

The rest of Washington's roster, which featured eight total new additions, is currently practicing with hopes of leading the program to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2019.

Dzepina is also putting in work in the offseason, albeit in a much more competitive environment.

The Serbian forward is currently competing for his native country in the FIBA Eurobasket tournament, and he put a great stat line to lead the Serbians to the knockout stage.

In three group stage games against Poland, Lithuania and Latvia, respectively, Dzepina averaged 17.7 points on 71.4% shooting (15-for-21). He also averaged 8.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. He blocked four total shots across the three games and averaged a steal per game, per stats available at basketball.eurobasket.com.

Dzepina was a late addition to UW's roster last year. He joined the team in December for the winter quarter.

The 6-foot-10 forward joined the Huskies with a reputation as a floor-spacer, with his ability to shoot from 3-point range being considered one of the most highlight aspects of his game.

Dzepina struggled to get acclimated to the team due to his late arrival. He was in and out of the lineup over the final months of the season due to various injuries suffered by Washington despite not having complete knowledge of the playbook.

Dzepina averaged 2.6 points in 14 games on 30.2% shooting from the field (including 25% from 3-point range). He also averaged 1.3 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game.

With an entire offseason under his belt with the team (sans his stint with Serbia in the international competition), there's an expectation that Dzepina will be a step forward and be a more impactful contributor this upcoming season.

If there's one positive takeaway from Dzepina's stint in Eurobasket, it's that he utilized his size and didn't default to his shooting. He had an efficient and decisive offensive output from inside the arc, which could make him a legitimate three-level scorer if he's able to translate his performance to the college level next season.

Washington will have a deep front court next season, comprised of Dzepina, Braga, Tisma, Mady Traore, Lathan Sommerville and Jasir Rencher.
