The Washington Huskies football team landed one of the top recruits remaining on their board Wednesday and continued an impressive UW bloodline in the process.

The Huskies landed three-star offensive tackle Tye Kennedy on Wednesday. He announced his commitment in a livestream on the Rivals YouTube channel.

Kennedy opted to go to his father's alma mater over other finalists including the Michigan Wolverines, Utah Utes and Arizona State Sun Devils.

Kennedy's commitment continues head coach Jedd Fisch's trend of successful recruiting in the state of Arizona dating back to his time at the helm of the Arizona Wildcats. The 6-foot-4, 270-pound offensive tackle attends Mountain View High School in Mesa, Ariz.

Kennedy's commitment also continues a bloodline of Huskies that started with arguably the best offensive lineman in the school's history.

His father, Lincoln Kennedy, played with Washington from 1988-1992. The elder of the two Kennedy's was a well-decorated lineman during his collegiate career. He won the Morris Trophy for the best offensive lineman in the Pac-10 in 1991-92. He was a consensus All-American in '92. He played in three-straight Rose Bowls from '90-92 and was inducted to the College Football Hall of Fame in 2015 and the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame in 2023.

Lincoln Kennedy parlayed that success to a stellar NFL career. He was picked ninth overall in the 1993 NFL Draft. He played with the Atlanta Falcons from 1993-95 and the Oakland Raiders from 1996-2003. He was named first-team All-Pro (2002), second-team All-Pro (2001) and was a three-time Pro Bowler (2000-02).

The younger of the two Kennedys is ranked as the 634th-best overall player, 59th-best offensive tackle and 11th-best player in Arizona per the 247Sports composite.

On3 Sports has Kennedy is ranked as the 661st-best overall player, 54th-best offensive tackle and 13th-best Arizona in the Class of '27.

The younger Kennedy's official visit on Montlake in Seattle featured him and his father in uniform, with the latter giving a crown to his son, which was shared in Tye Kennedy's announcement graphic on "X." 

Kennedy became the second offensive lineman and 23rd overall recruit to commit to UW in the Class of '27. The other was three-star interior offensive lineman Reis Russell.

The Huskies' '27 class currently ranks 25th in the country, per 247Sports.

Washington could be adding another player in the trenches this month in four-star offensive lineman DaJohn Yarborough, who's set to announce his commitment July 11. Cal is currently considered the favorites to land him (20.2%) while the Huskies have the second-best odds (17.7%), per On3 Sports.
