The Huskies are one of six finalists for three-star offensive tackle Tye Kennedy, son of former UW offensive tackle Lincoln Kennedy
The Washington Huskies were unable to land a legacy 2027 recruit earlier this offseason.
Four-star cornerback Josiah Molden (West Linn, Ore.), who had familial ties to both the Huskies and Oregon Ducks, opted to choose the latter, following in the steps of his father, Alex Molden, rather than his brother, Elijah Molden.
Washington will have the opportunity to make up for that lost recruiting battle by bringing in another legacy on July 1.
That date will mark the commitment of three-star offensive lineman Tye Kennedy, who confirmed the date in a story written by Brandon Huffman of Rivals.com.
Kennedy will be choosing from six finalists, including the Huskies. The other five teams Kennedy is considering are: the Cal Golden Bears, Arizona State Sun Devils, Michigan Wolverines, Utah Utes and Minnesota Golden Gophers.
Tye Kennedy is the son of former Washington offensive lineman, Lincoln Kennedy. The elder Kennedy played in the Pacific Northwest from 1989-92. During his time in college, he was two-time All-Pac 10 (1991-92), one-time third-team All-American ('91) and a unanimous All-American ('92).
Lincoln Kennedy parlayed that college success into a long NFL career. He was selected ninth overall in the 1993 NFL Draft. He spent 11 seasons in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons ('93-95) and Oakland Raiders ('96-2003) and was a three-time Pro Bowler ('00-02) and one-time first-team All-Pro ('02).
As for the younger Kennedy, he's ranked as the 605th-best player in the country, 53rd-best offensive tackle and 13th-best player in Arizona in the Class of 2027 according to the 247Sports composite. He currently attends Mountain View High School in Mesa, Ariz.
Kennedy has official visits lined up with four of his six finalists in the coming weeks: the Golden Bears on May 29, the Utes on June 5, Wolverines on June 12 and Huskies on June 19.
Those official visits could very possibly push Kennedy in whichever direction he chooses to commit. Based on predictions, it's still a toss-up as to which program will land the son of the former All-American.
Rivals.com's prediction model has Utah with the best odds to land Kennedy at 26.2%. Cal has a 22.9% and Washington has the third-highest odds at 19.7%.
Kennedy would be the first tackle to commit to the Huskies and the second offensive lineman.
Washington's '27 recruiting class currently ranked 13th in the country, per 247Sports. The program earned a commitment from three-star interior offensive lineman Reis Russell earlier this offseason.
