Sienna Harvey has opted to take her talents elsewhere after her freshman season

The Washington Huskies women's basketball team has garnered a reputation over the last several years of retaining talent under head coach Tina Langley.

The Huskies retained Langley on a six-year, $7.1 million contract Thursday that will keep Langley, and the culture she's built with the program, around through the rest of the decade.

Unfortunately for Washington, Langley's retention hasn't meant a full 100% return from the roster.

According to a report on "X" from On3 Sports reporter Talia Goodman, sophomore guard Sienna Harvey has opted to enter the transfer portal.

The news came from Harvey's representative, Chris Pongrass, of Lighthouse Sports.

Harvey, who played her true freshman season with the Huskies this past season, committed to the team with a solid background.

The 5-foot-10 guard competed for Australia in the FIBA U19 Women's World Cup the summer before she arrived in the Pacific Northwest. She helped lead her native country to the championship and averaged 5.8 points, 3.2 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game.

The previous year, Harvey helped lead Australia to the FIBA U18 Asia Cup title. She received a scholarship to play for the Centre of Excellence in Australia, which has produced WNBA players such as Liz Cambage and Jade Melbourne, among others.

Harvey played in 23 of the Huskies' 33 games this season. She averaged 3.2 points per game on 36.8% shooting from the floor and also averaged 1.9 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.

Harvey's best game came in a 90-50 win against Pacific University on Dec. 21. She scored 22 points on 9-for-11 shooting in 17 minutes, pulled in a rebound and dished an assist. The most playing time she registered this past year was 24 minutes in two separate games against Southern University on Nov. 25 and San Jose State on Dec. 1.

Three of the five seniors who played their last season, Elle Ladine, Teagan Brown and Hannah Stines, all played guard. Ladine and Stines were starters.

Their respective departures likely meant Harvey would be in prime position to earn playing time or, potentially a starting role, in the 2026-27 season.

Now, Washington will have to find roles for a total of six players. Including the aforementioned graduated guards, forward Shayla Gillmer and center Yulia Grabovskaia were also honored at senior day, although there's been chatter of Grabovskaia potentially having another year of eligibility.

The Huskies currently have one Class of 2026 commit, four-star guard Amayah Garcia, and will likely look to the transfer portal to find further replacements.
