The Huskies were recently predicted to land one of the top players in the Class of '28.
The Washington Huskies football team has been a legitimate force on the recruiting trail since head coach Jedd Fisch took the helm of the program.
The Huskies' 2026 recruiting class, which is likely to feature several true freshmen starters, ranked 12th in the country per 247Sports.
UW's '27 recruiting class is also solid to this point and currently ranks 24th in the nation per the 247Sports composite.
Washington is apparently getting off to a great start in the '28 recruiting class, as well.
UW has been putting out offers for some of the best blue-chip prospects in next year's recruiting cycle, both on offense and defense, and the team was recently predicted to land one of the top edge rushers available.
According to an article from Rivals.com reporter Steve Wiltfong, five-star Jalanie George is set to make a decision on his commitment Sept. 1, and the Oklahoma Sooners and the Huskies are the two leaders.
George described Huskies director of sports science Ben Creamer as a "secret weapon" and a "guy that can take (him) to the next level."
Currently, On3 Sports' prediction model has Washington with a 94.8% chance to land a commitment from George. The Huskies are the only team that George is marked as "warm" on according to 247Sports,
George attends Desert Edge High School in Goodyear, Ariz. Washington has commitments from two of George's teammates for the '27 class: four-star quarterback Blake Roskopf and three-star wide receiver Zerek Sidney.
The 6-foot-5, 250-pound edge rusher is currently ranked as the 21st-best overall player, fifth-best edge rusher and second-best player in Arizona, per the 247Sports Composite.
Rivals' Industry Rankings has George ranked as the ninth-best overall player in the class, the second-best edge rusher and the best player in Arizona.
Given the relatively early recruitment of George, it's likely that several high-end programs will continue to attempt to flip him to their team, even if he commits to the Huskies.
However, it would still reflect extremely positive on Washington if it is able to land the blue-chipper, and it would be one of the better first commitments for any team's '28 recruiting class in the country.
While the Huskies await George's decision, the current team is prepping for the 2026-27 season. Fall training camp began Thursday and will continue throughout August.
Washington will open the season against the Washington State Cougars at 1:00 p.m. PT on Sept. 6 at Husky Stadium in Seattle.
