Jeovanni Henley will choose from five teams, including the Huskies, on June 6

The Washington Huskies football team is gearing up to add the final touches to what's shaping out to be a special 2027 recruiting class.

The Huskies will host several recruiting targets in the coming weeks for official visits. In addition to trying to make the final pitch for those soon-to-be high school graduates, Washington will also be looking to land a commitment from a versatile defensive back.

According to a post on "X" from college football recruiting insider Leyton Roberts, three-star defensive back Jeovanni Henley will announce his commitment June 6.

Henley will be choosing from the Cal Golden Bears, BYU Cougars, Texas Longhorns, Penn State Nittany Lions and the Huskies.

The defensive back doesn't have the recruiting pedigree as some of Washington's other commitments, including top 200 players Jon Ioane (four-star defensive lineman) and Blake Roskopf (four-star quarterback).

Henley is ranked as the 1,282nd-best overall player, 102nd-best athlete and the 112th-best player in California per the 247Sports composite. Henley's elder cousin, Daiyan Henley, played linebacker for the Huskies' in-state rivals, the Washington State Cougars, and was picked in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Chargers, where he currently plays.

The 6-foot, 165-pound Henley doesn't have the prototypical size of a starting cornerback in Washington defensive coordinator Ryan Walters' defense. Last year's starting outside corners and 2026 NFL Draft picks, Tacario Davis and Ephesians Prysock, were both 6-foot-4. This year's presumptive starters, sophomore Dylan Robinson and senior Emmanuel Karnley, are both 6-foot-3.

Despite Henley's lack of a national pedigree and outside corner size, his versatility is something that Walters and the rest of the UW coaching staff would value.

In high school, Henley has played nickelback (slot cornerback), outside corner and safety, which has played a role in his "athlete" destination as a recruit. He also played running back on the offensive end.

In his junior season last fall, Henley had 65 total tackles (52 solo), including 9.5 tackles for loss, in 12 games. He also had five sacks, two interceptions, six passes defended and a fumble recovery, per MaxPreps.

Currently, it seems like it's likely that Henley will remain home in California.

According to Rivals.com's prediction model, the Golden Bears have the highest odds to land Henley at 37.7%, the Nittany Lions have the second-highest odds at 22.3% and the Huskies have the third-highest odds at 14.6%. Safeties coach Taylor Mays is leading Washington's recruiting efforts for Henley.
