The Washington Huskies women's basketball team is coming off its best season in nearly a decade. It finished out the season 22-11 and advanced to the Round of 32 before following 72-69 in overtime to the TCU Horned Frogs.

On the heels of their decade-best performance, the Huskies have made a concerted effort to take the next step toward being contenders next season, adding several notable additions via the transfer portal in addition to four-star Class of 2026 guard Amayah Garcia.

Washington's efforts to bolster the program further have also extended to the coaching staff.

The Huskies announced the addition of associate coach Tasha Brown to the coaching staff Friday. Per a news release from UW athletics, Brown will specialize in "peak performance."

"Tasha is an exceptional coach, mentor, and leader," Washington head coach Tina Langley said I nthe news release. "I've had the privilege of seeing her teach the game at an elite level firsthand, but it's her commitment to growing young women that truly sets her apart. Her holistic approach to training the mind and body has helped countless players reach peak performance. Tasha has a passion for service and is driven by a relentless pursuit of excellence. She is one of the best in the country at developing the whole person, and I am so excited for our young women to learn from her."

Brown joins the Huskies after eight seasons with the UCLA Bruins. Brown's previous destination reached back-to-back Final Fours the last two seasons and won the national championship in March.

Washington's latest coaching addition has two decades of experience, including stops at Rice, Cincinnati, UC Santa Barbara, Wisconsin and Western Michigan. She's coached 19 all-conference recipients and 18 pro players.

Langley has experience working with Brown on her staff. Langley served as head coach at Rice from 2015-21, where she helped lead the Owls to the NCAA tournament in 2019. It was just the third NCAA tourney appearance in the program's history and the first since 2005.

Brown served on Langley's staff with Rice in the 2017-18 season before joining UCLA.

"Tina is one of the greatest teachers, leaders, and people in our profession. Her genuine care for people, commitment to excellence, and deep purpose in serving young women and those around her are inspiring. I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside her again.

Brown will have several high-end players to help reach "peak performance" next season, including 2025-26 first-team All-Big Ten senior guard Sayvia Sellers, All-Big Ten honorable mention junior guard Avery Howell, Big Ten All-Freshman forward Brynn McGaughy and 6-foot-6 transfer portal addition and junior forward Tilda Trygger, among others.
