The Washington Huskies football team hosted several players over their junior day over the weekend.
The Huskies had several notable 2027 recruits, including several who have already committed to the program and others who the team is hoping to land in the near future.
The Washington coaches apparently made a significant impact on at least one player, who committed to head to Montlake for his collegiate career.
Three-star class of 2027 linebacker Isaiah Leilua committed to the Huskies on Tuesday, according to a post on "X" from Rivals.com reporter Hayes Fawcett.
"Washington recruited me harder than anyone," Leilua said in an article written by Greg Biggins for Rivals.com. "I’ve been feeling them the most for awhile and I have a great relationship with the coaches there. ... They reach out almost every day to make sure they get that UW logo in front of me. I like the defense and the overall scheme there and it’s just a great all around fit for me."
Leilua, who attends Servite High School in Anaheim, Calif., is ranked as the 45th-best linebacker and 45th-best player in California in the '27 class according to 247Sports.
Leilua opted to commit to he Huskies over offers from other notable programs such as Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Penn State, Oregon and others.
The 6-foot, 220-pounder was recruited by Washington to play inside linebacker and became the team's eighth commitment of the '27 class.
Including Leilua, the Huskies' '27 commitments are: four-star wide receiver Zerek Sidney, three-star wide receiver Braylon Pope, three-star cornerback/athlete Maurice Williams, three-star linebackers Ethan Coach, Justin Coach and Titus Osterman and three-star defensive lineman Matamatagi Uiagalelei.
The eight commitments currently have Washington ranked with the seventh-best recruiting class in the nation according to 247Sports.
The six teams ranked ahead of the Huskies, in order, are: Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Georgia and Louisville.
Since being hired as the head coach ahead of the 2024 season, head coach Jedd Fisch and the rest of his staff have helped turn the Huskies into legitimate players on the recruiting trail.
Per 247Sports, the '25 recruiting class, the first totally under Fisch's recruitment efforts, ranked 27th in the country and the '26 recruiting class ranked 12th in the country. The latter of the two classes was the highest-ranked one in program history.
Washington is still involved in the recruitment of several four-star prospects and could be on track to ink a '27 recruiting class that exceeds '26.
