Washington Target to Make Commitment Decision By End of January cover image

Four-star quarterback Sione Kaho will choose between several suitors, which include the Huskies

The Washington Huskies football team had one of the best-touted 2026 recruiting classes.

At the time of international signing day, the Huskies' had the 12th-ranked recruiting class in the country according to 247Sports.

Washington could also be on its way to making the 2027 recruiting class almost, if not just as talented.

According to a report from Greg Bivens of Rivals, four-star 2027 quarterback Sione Kaho has narrowed down his list of schools and is looking to make his decision by the end of January.

Kaho has narrowed down his list to five schools: Duke, Cal, Stanford, Oregon and UW.

The junior signal-caller, listed at 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, is ranked as the 21st-best quarterback in the country in his class and the third-best player in Washington according to the 247Sports composite. He plays at Lincoln High School in Tacoma, Wash., roughly a 40-minute drive from Husky Stadium in Seattle.

Kaho was a participant in the Polynesian Bowl on Jan. 16 at Clarence T.C. Ching Field in Honolulu. He was one of the highlight performers.

He completed 11-of-16 passes for 132 yards and a touchdown in the Bowl.

"He has a loose, natural throwing motion and easily generates velocity on his passes," Rivals director of scouting and rankings Charles Power said in Bivens' story. "Kaho also did a good job of picking up the scheme and consistently moved Mauka’s offense up and down the field all week. Overall it was a positive showing for Kaho in a setting that is not always forgiving for underclassman quarterbacks."

The Huskies currently "have the momentum" in Kaho's recruitment according to the story. Kaho's had a relationship with Washington director of recruiting Marcus Griffin since the former was in 8th grade.

Landing Kaho would be a major get for the Huskies' quarterback room, which is somewhat uncertain beyond 2026.

Junior quarterback Demond Williams Jr., who's coming a 2025 where he led the Big Ten in total yardage in his true freshman season, will be with the team in 2026 after a tumultuous series of events where he signed to return to the program, then announced he would enter the portal and reneged on his decision to transfer.

Another successful year in 2026 could lead Williams to being one of the top quarterbacks available in the 2027 NFL Draft, which would leave Washington in need of signal-caller.

Aside from Williams, the Huskies' quarterback room is currently comprised of redshirt freshmen Dash Beierly and Treston "Kini" McMillan and true freshman Derek Zammit, who was a three-star recruit in the '26 class. None of the three have attempted a pass in college.
