Caitlin Clark says the looming suspension threat won't change how she plays as she racked up her seventh technical of the season.
Indiana Fever star guard Caitlin Clark is often known for being fouled, but she herself is in foul trouble as her fiery nature of play is catching up.
One more technical foul, and Clark is watching her team play on from the bench.
While the Fever enjoyed a 123-88 rout of the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday, Clark racked up her seventh technical of the season, which means she’s only one technical away from a one-game suspension per WNBA league rules.
It’s certainly not a lead either wants or wants to share, but Clark is now tied with Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese for the most technicals in the WNBA with seven apiece.
Clark’s career total of 15 through three seasons is the second most in a player’s career through that time span – she’s only behind Reese with 19.
The technical came as a result of some trash talk with Sun guard Saniya Rivers after a reach-in foul by Clark.
Clark uttered a common phrase of “scoreboard” as her comeback, which she admitted didn’t sit well with the officials despite her 27-point, 11-assist performance through 27 minutes of play.
And as of now, Clark is unfazed by the foul trouble.

Despite the suspension threat, Clark has no intentions of toning down her style of play.
She did acknowledge the importance of emotional balance and keeping control of that but without letting go of the fire and intensity that remains central to her identity as a player.
Fever coach Stephanie White backed up her player and dismissed any notions of strategically managing her star to avoid the suspension.
For White, as long as Clark is aware, she has no intention of restraining her ahead of their three-game trip to Seattle.
