Stephon Castle’s 32-point masterclass fueled a dominant Game 6 clincher. Now, Victor Wembanyama and the surging Spurs prepare for a heavyweight clash with the defending champion Thunder.

The Western Conference Finals matchup is officially set after the San Antonio Spurs throttled the Minnesota Timberwolves 139-109.

In Game 6 of the second-round matchup, guard Stephon Castle led the way at a 32-point and 11-rebound double-double while star Victor Wembanyama added 19 and six.

Castle shot 5-7 from three point range, one of the key advantages of the Spurs win, who shot 47% from distance versus Minnesota’s 35%.

For more on the San Antonio victory, Spurs Roundtable writer Jonah Kubicek has the recap.

After souring the Timberwolves comeback opportunity, the Spurs move on with the 4-2 series win. They will now taking on the Oklahoma City Thunder, who have yet to lose a single playoff game in their return to the Western Conference Finals for the second consecutive year.

The series promises to be an exciting one with big names like Wembanyama’s and Thunder’s star guard and 2025 league MVP Shai-Gilgeous Alexander set as the cornerstones of the matchup.

Last year, the Thunder stormed past the Timberwolves 4-1, earning their right to play for the Finals championship, which they would eventually win in a seven-game series against the Indiana Pacers

For the Spurs, this will be their first conference finals appearance since the 2017 playoffs. The team was swept by the eventual champion Golden State Warriors team during that postsesson.

The first matchup of the 2025-26 Western Conference Finals is set for Monday, May 18 at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC/Peacock.

In the Eastern Conference, the New York Knicks still await their opponent as the Detroit Pistons have forced a decisive Game 7 against the Cleveland Cavaliers, scheduled for Sunday.
