Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Cassell ignited a 38-point blowout to even the series, leaving Minnesota reeling from a historic defeat as the scene shifts to Minneapolis.

A 38-point victory on Thursday night evened up the San Antonio Spurs with the Minnesota Timberwolves, now 1-1 in their semifinals series. The scoring margin also set a franchise record for the Timberwolves in all the worst ways.

The Wolves fell 133-95, setting up the worst playoff loss in the franchise’s history.

The second-seeded Spurs appeared to be one of the most imposing teams of the playoff’s second round in the performance. Star Victor Wembanyama charted a 19-point and 15-rebound double-double. It was guard Stephon Cassell who led the way in scoring with 21 points.

Timberwolves star guard Anthony Edwards continued to come off of the bench as he continues his miraculous injury recovery. Edwards was initially expected to miss time early in this series after suffering a left knee injury in the Wolves’ opening series against the Denver Nuggets

The two teams will meet again Friday in Minneapolis, Minn. in an important tie-breaker game.  It’s a game where Edwards expects the home crowd to be “turnt up.”

“They’re gonna be turnt up,” he said after Game 2. “They’re going to be falling all over and s***, drunk as hell. They’re going to be loud as hell in there.”

Because the T-Wolves ended up getting a win on the road in Game 1, they now face a favorable environment at home while attempting to reclaim the series lead 2-1.
