Oklahoma City remains undefeated this postseason after dismantling Los Angeles.
The Oklahoma City Thunder are making a statement as they’ve now taken a 3-0 lead over the Los Angeles Lakers, continuing their astounding 7-0 run through the playoffs thus far.
The Thunder came into the NBA postseason poised to be one of the top competitors, if not at the very top immediately, and they’ve played like it since the first playoff tip.
The Thunder’s most recent victory, a 131-108 blowout over the Lakers is the team’s latest showing of power.
For more on the win, Thunder Roundtable writer Nick Crain has the breakdown.
The Thunder could be in for an exciting 24 hours. Not only did the club continue its undefeated playoff streak, but now could land an impactful result in the NBA Draft lottery on Sunday.
During the Lottery, the Oklahoma City has an 86.1% chance to land the No. 13 overall pick. However, the team also has a 7.2% chance to land inside of the top four. That’s not nothing.
The Thunder could then extend the strong weekend by capping off a sweep of the Lakers on Monday. This would improve them to a perfect 8-0 as they’ve played seek move on to face the winner of the San Antonio Spurs and Minnesota Timberwolves series.
With strong offensive rebounding, careful ball-handling and a clear advantage in the paint, the Thunder are set to compete all the way to the Finals matchup yet again this year as they seek a chance to repeat as NBA Champions.
Behind star guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and excellent team chemistry and coaching, it’s beginning to look like a foregone conclusion who will represent the Western Conference in the Finals. Though Spurs star Victor Wembanyama would present a unique challenge.
Then, should the Thunder luck into a top four selection, the luxury addition they’d be in line to acquire only strengthens their 2027 campaign ahead.
