The Packers went all-in with rare splash moves in the offseason to make a Super Bowl run, and that aggression took a major hit when their star pass rusher went down Sunday.

The Green Bay Packers looked poised for a potential Super Bowl run after finally making some splash moves to acquire the final pieces. They traded for their best player right before the season started. They remain one game behind the Chicago Bears for control of the NFC North. Then their worst nightmare transpired in the second half of their 34-26 loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 15. Star pass rusher Micah Parsons went down in the third quarter with a non-contact knee injury as he went to pressure quarterback Bo Nix. He went down in noticeable pain, and the way he grabbed at his knee was concerning.

Unfortunately, fears of the worst came true for the Packers as they announced that Parsons is done for the season with a torn ACL, and that recovery timeline likely puts him out for the start of next season as well. It’s a devastating update after trading away so much capital to acquire Parsons from the Dallas Cowboys. And it feels like the season is now standing on an icy pond. Not only did Parsons make the defense click, but he brought so much pressure up front that it helped disguise a bit of the cornerback play that was average all season.

Here is the full story from Packers Roundtable writer Andrew Kulha on the candid state of the franchise and what their next moves must be.

Parsons posted a statement on X following the news.

"I may be sidelined, but I am not defeated. This injury is my greatest test—a moment God allowed to strengthen my testimony," Parsons wrote on X.

"I believe He walks with me through this storm and chose me for this fight because He knew my heart could carry it. I’m deeply grateful to the Packers organization and my teammates for their unwavering support, love, and belief in me during this season. I trust His timing, His plan, and His purpose. I will rise again."

Parsons will end his first year in Green Bay with 41 total tackles, 12.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and a pass deflection. He was as advertised and as hoped for. Unfortunately, that’ll be the last glimpse Packers fans will get of Parsons until 2026.
