The situation surrounding wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has yet to get any better. Aiyuk has yet to play this season and it does not appear like he is expected to at this point in the season. Reports had been that the 49ers had voided the guaranteed portion of his contract because of the receiver’s lack of team involvement. 

Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports that although the Niners had remained optimistic that Aiyuk would eventually return to practice, that optimism eventually diminished. Russini explains that expectations are that the two sides will go their separate ways in the near future, allowing a fresh start for both.
