The San Francisco 49ers are two victories away from clinching the #1 seed in the NFC. Along with that would come a bye in the first round of the playoffs, which would be a monumental gift for a franchise that has competed with a skeleton crew for the majority of the regular season.

They've won games with Mac Jones at quarterback, without the services of defensive end Nick Bosa and linebacker Fred Warner and without wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. According to the graph above (per overthecap.com), the 49ers pay the fourth most money in the NFL to players that unavailable due to injuries and/or personal matters.

Still, head coach Kyle Shanahan has helped orchestrate one of the most successful seasons in spite of harsh circumstances we've ever seen in the history of the league.

Quarterback Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears visit Levi's Stadium this Sunday as the penultimate opponent of the season. History awaits a battered 49ers squad if they can topple this team.
