Freshly rested, the 49ers aim to leverage their bye week advantage against a physical Titans team, seeking to build momentum.

The San Francisco 49ers return to action this weekend with fresh legs, renewed focus, and the advantage of playing at Levi’s Stadium as they host the Tennessee Titans. Coming off a well timed bye week, the 9–4 49ers enter the final stretch of the regular season, while the Titans arrive eager to play spoiler.

Momentum Meets Rest for San Francisco

Before the bye, the 49ers grinded out a 26–8 win over the Cleveland Browns. The victory pushed San Francisco back into rhythm after an up-and-down stretch and set the stage for a refreshed team entering Week 15.

The bye couldn’t have come at a better time. Several key players, including Brock Purdy (toe), Christian McCaffrey (general wear), and both starting tackles, benefited from extra recovery days. The 49ers expect one of their healthiest lineups in weeks, and that alone could create a noticeable difference offensively.

Brock Purdy’s Pocket Presence Will Be Crucial

Purdy continues to battle a lingering toe injury, but his performance before the break showed he can manage it effectively. His decisiveness and sack avoidance against Cleveland will be vital against a Tennessee defense that may not be elite, but is physical up front and opportunistic in the red zone.

With Kyle Shanahan crafting the game plan and a full week of rest behind him, Purdy’s ability to extend plays and protect the football is the key to keeping the offense on schedule.

Titans Bring Grit, Physicality, and a Young Quarterback

The Titans’ record may not intimidate anyone, but Brian Callahan’s team doesn’t lack toughness. With Tennessee starting a rookie under center, expect heavy doses of downhill running and quick game passing designed to challenge the 49ers’ linebackers and defensive line discipline.

San Francisco’s defense, plagued with injuries, has to feel rejuvenated after the bye. The 49ers defensive rookies and backups who have had to play have tightened up these last couple weeks. This week is another opportunity to force mistakes and tilt the field for the offense.

    Key Matchups to Watch

    • Trent Williams vs. Titans edge rushers Arden Key and Rookie Oluwafemi Oladejo  – Tennessee brings power and high effort. Williams coming off rest is a major advantage.
    • 49ers’ front seven vs. Titans run game – If the Niners win early downs, the Titans may struggle to keep up offensively. The Titans have a duo of running backs they rely on Tony Pollard who is officially RB1 on the depth chart but RB2, Tyjae Spears, also receives substantial reps.
    • Christian McCaffrey vs. Titans LBs – Expect McCaffrey to be heavily involved early after extra time to recharge.

Prediction: A Focused 49ers Team Shows Up

Expect San Francisco to come out sharp. The bye week allowed the roster to reset physically and mentally, and Shanahan, like most, historically excels in post bye games. The Titans will test their toughness, but the 49ers’ efficiency should carry the day.

    Projected Outcome: 49ers 27, Titans 13

This weekend is a chance for San Francisco to build momentum for the stretch run.
