San Francisco continues to stay busy during free agency, adding more depth to the offensive line with Brett Toth.

The San Francisco 49ers continued to add depth to their offensive line this offseason, agreeing to a one-year deal with veteran lineman Brett Toth.

According to Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia, the 29-year-old lineman will join San Francisco after spending most of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles.

The move provides the 49ers with a versatile depth option along an offensive line that remains a work in progress heading into the 2026 season.

Toth originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of United States Military Academy in 2019. Since then, he has carved out a steady role as a dependable reserve lineman, appearing in 37 career games with six starts.

His career has included three separate stints with Philadelphia along with brief stops with the Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers.

Last season marked the most significant playing time of Toth’s career. He appeared in all 17 games for the Eagles and made four starts, splitting time between left guard and center.

During those opportunities, Toth held his own against strong competition, including games against the Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings, and Green Bay Packers.

Across 337 snaps in those starts, Toth posted a respectable 2.4 percent blown block rate, showing he could handle extended playing time without the offense collapsing around him.

His only notably difficult outing came against a defense led by coordinator Brian Flores, where he was charged with four blown blocks.

Outside of that game, he was responsible for one or fewer in every appearance.

Standing 6-foot-6 and weighing 304 pounds, Toth’s biggest asset is versatility.

Over the course of his career, he has logged snaps at multiple positions along the line, including left guard, center, right tackle, and right guard.

That type of flexibility is particularly valuable for a team like San Francisco that values linemen capable of filling multiple roles in head coach Kyle Shanahan’s system.

The signing could also signal roster changes ahead. With Toth entering the picture, the 49ers now have additional competition for key backup roles along the interior offensive line.

Players such as Connor Colby and Nick Zakelj are expected to compete with Toth for the swing interior lineman spot.

San Francisco still has bigger questions to answer along the offensive line, particularly at left guard and depth at center, but adding Toth gives the team a proven insurance option who has already shown he can step into meaningful snaps in a playoff-caliber offense.

He may not arrive as a projected starter, but as a versatile and reliable depth piece, Toth represents a smart and practical addition for the 49ers’ offensive line room heading into 2026.
