Several 49ers players earned nominations to the 2025 Pro Bowl team.

It’s been surprising to see how successful the San Francisco 49ers have been this year.

Despite injuries, shifting lineups, and questions entering the season, the team has emerged as one of the most well-rounded groups in the NFL.

And because of how special this season has been, recognition was bound to follow.

That recognition arrived Tuesday morning with the release of the NFL’s Pro Bowl rosters.

The NFL announced the Pro Bowl selections at 7 a.m. PT on Tuesday, and the 49ers were once again firmly in the spotlight.

Six San Francisco players earned Pro Bowl nods: Luke Gifford, Kyle Juszczyk, George Kittle, Christian McCaffrey, Jon Weeks, and Trent Williams.

Return specialist Skyy Moore was also named an alternate, bringing the total number of recognized 49ers to seven.

Given that the team hasn’t always had its full collection of stars available this season, that number is both impressive and telling.

Some of the selections were expected. Christian McCaffrey remains the engine of the offense and one of the most dynamic players in football.

He crossed the 1,000-yard rushing mark on Monday night and already has nine rushing touchdowns.

Pair that with 92 receptions and 849 receiving yards, and another historic 1,000-rushing, 1,000-receiving season feels almost inevitable.

Kyle Juszczyk’s presence on the list is also familiar.

He has long set the standard at fullback, offering versatility, toughness, and football intelligence that few players at the position can match.

George Kittle’s selection further highlights how raw numbers don’t always measure value.

While he may not approach 1,000 receiving yards this year, his impact as a blocker, leader, and tone-setter remains as strong as ever.

Perhaps the most eye-opening recognition came on special teams.

Linebacker Luke Gifford earned his Pro Bowl spot through relentless kick coverage, leading the team in special teams snaps and tackles while ranking among the league’s best in that area.

Veteran long snapper Jon Weeks, now in his 16th NFL season, was selected for the second time in his career.

While the position rarely gets attention, the nod reflects just how much San Francisco’s special teams unit has improved.

Skyy Moore’s alternate selection adds to that story, as he’s consistently provided a spark as a returner.

Then there’s Trent Williams. At 37 years old, he continues to perform at an elite level, getting better as the season progresses.

His Pro Bowl selection is a reminder that greatness doesn’t fade easily and that the 49ers’ success still starts up front.
