The San Francisco 49ers are hosting a top-30 visit with Texas A&M wide receiver KC Concepcion on April 14. The versatile wide receiver is dynamic after the catch and would give Brock Purdy and Kyle Shanahan another explosive weapon. The 49ers should sprint to the stand if Concepcion is on the board at pick 27.
It’s important to note that a top-30 visit doesn’t mean Concepcion is one of their highest-rated prospects. However, it’s an amazing indication of their interest and an opportunity for a more in-depth workout. Additionally, it’s another opportunity for team doctors and various position coaches to get eyes on him.
Concepcion’s calling card is his elite ability with the ball in his hands. The former Aggie recorded 440 yards after the catch and 14 missed tackles in 2025. He’s incredibly elusive in open space and is difficult to bring down. This is a major reason why he would thrive in a Kyle Shanahan scheme. The head coach can create ample space and allow Concepcion to run free. Because of this, the fit is ideal on both sides.
Beyond this, Concepcion is a well-rounded receiver. He wasn’t viewed as a great route runner heading into 2025, being used mostly as a gadget receiver at NC State; however, he developed immensely in this area and now frequently creates separation in routes. He’s efficient in and out of cuts and understands how to stem a defender. This ability allows him to not be reliant on manufactured touches, but rather being able to make plays on his own.
Concepcion’s versatility is unparalleled in college football. He was named the Paul Hornung Award winner last season, which is given to the most versatile player in the league. This isn’t surprising as he’s not only impactful on offense, lining up all over the field, but is also a special teams ace. Concepcion's a dangerous punt and kick returner who’s always a threat for a game-changing moment.
The biggest issue with Concepcion is his hands. He has flashes of reliability, even making some highlight-level contested catches, but has far too many drops on film (10.3% drop rate). This is largely due to him losing focus, shifting towards routing his path after the catch. Fortunately for him, this is an area he can improve at in the NFL.
Despite this, KC Concepcion is an elite prospect and would be an ideal fit for the 49ers. There’s obviously mutual interest as the two sides will meet for a top-30 visit. He would be a home-run selection if he’s on the board at pick 27.
