With another pivotal offseason ahead, the San Francisco 49ers find themselves balancing short-term urgency with long-term roster planning.
Contract uncertainty at key positions and late-season fatigue on both sides of the ball have made it clear that San Francisco must reload rather than rebuild.
A recent mock draft offers a compelling vision for how the 49ers could address those needs, pairing a dynamic offensive playmaker with much-needed reinforcements in the trenches to keep their championship window firmly open.
Pro Football Network’s Jacob Infante delivered a thoughtful three-round projection for the San Francisco 49ers, and his selections hit on two areas that consistently define the franchise’s success: playmakers who thrive after the catch and physical depth in the trenches.
With the 27th overall pick, Infante tabs wide receiver KC Concepcion, a move that feels increasingly realistic given the uncertainty surrounding San Francisco’s receiving corps.
"It seems likely that Brandon Aiyuk is on his way out of the San Francisco 49ers’ organization, and Jauan Jennings is set to hit free agency this year. If the team ends up losing both Deebo Samuel and Aiyuk in back-to-back offseasons, a significant talent infusion at wide receiver will be necessary. San Francisco would need additional playmakers to complement established stars like George Kittle and Christian McCaffrey in the passing game."
Concepcion’s calling card is his explosiveness after the catch. He accelerates quickly out of his breaks, creates separation underneath, and turns short throws into chunk gains.
In the second round, Infante pivots to the offensive line with Caleb Tiernan, a massive tackle prospect out of Northwestern.
"Caleb Tiernan is a massive blocker, standing at 6’7″ and weighing 329 pounds, with gap-zone run-blocking versatility. He has the size, strength, hand usage, and spatial awareness to become a good starter in the NFL."
Even if he doesn’t start immediately, Tiernan would provide valuable depth and long-term insurance in a unit that has battled injuries and inconsistency in recent seasons.
The theme of reinforcing the trenches continues in Round 3 with Anthony Lucas, an edge defender from USC.
"The 49ers saw firsthand that their edge-rusher depth wasn’t up to par as their defense declined in the second half of 2025. The 6’5″, 275-pound Anthony Lucas is a lengthy, powerful defender with accurate hand placement and good speed-to-power rushing the passer."
His speed-to-power conversion and disciplined hand placement give him a chance to contribute early in a rotational role while developing into more.
