Analysts forecast a defensive bloodbath as Nick Bosa eyes a struggling Miami frontline, while San Francisco’s high-octane offense looks to exploit an inexperienced secondary for a dominant victory.

The San Francisco 49ers are heavily favored to defeat the Miami Dolphins after a big win over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1. As expected, several analysts are taking the Niners to win the game.

USA TODAY NFL writers predicted the Niners' game against the Dolphins. NFL writer Adam Kaufman had the 49ers winning the game, 31-13, with the following prediction.

"If the 49ers are as good as they looked in Australia and the Dolphins are as bad as, well, they are, this could be a bloodbath. The Raiders had no trouble getting to Malik Willis, sacking him five times and generating 17 pressures, so Nick Bosa must be licking his chops. San Francisco is feeling itself after handling Los Angeles Down Under and has enjoyed extra time to rest, reset its body clock and prepare for this one. Christian McCaffrey and Kaelon Black should pick up where they left off after helping the 49ers rush for 174 yards at 5.8 per carry. Meanwhile, Brock Purdy has every opportunity to exploit Miami's inexperienced secondary with Mike Evans, Deebo Samuel and George Kittle. This shouldn't be close."

Fellow USA TODAY writer Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz had a similar prediction. He took the Niners to win, 34-17. Here was his reasoning.

"Oof. Whatever the line ends up as here still might not be great enough to reflect the disparity between these two teams. Kyle Shanahan's offense can be maddening for even the most experienced defenders to try to keep contained. Expect the learning curve to be steep for the Dolphins and a group dotted with first- and second-year starters. Even if Malik Willis and De'Von Achane can provide some sporadic sparks, Miami will have a tough time relying on its unproven receiving corps to keep drives going."

Being heavily favored doesn't mean much. The Los Angeles Chargers were expected to role past one of the 49ers' divisional foes, the Arizona Cardinals, before Arizona stunned Los Angeles. The Cardinals took home the win.

The expectation is clear. The 49ers need to take care of business and win the game. That does not account for how difficult the matchup is going to be this weekend.

The Niners now have to rebound from a trip overseas and maintain that high level of play they showed in Australia against the Los Angeles Rams. They will have to do so again shorthanded without a handful of players with which they expected to start off the season.

The 49ers have an opportunity. They will look to make the most of it with a resounding win against the Dolphins.
