The first week of free agency is over, and the San Francisco 49ers’ primary draft needs are becoming evident. Because of that, it’s time for a seven-round mock draft.
1:27- Omar Cooper Jr., WR, Indiana
Wide receiver is a major need for the 49ers. They signed veteran Mike Evans this offseason, but that’s not enough to fill the void left by Brandon Aiyuk. It’s pivotal that they address the position early and give Brock Purdy dynamic options.
Fit-wise, Omar Cooper is an ideal pairing with the 49ers. The explosive slot receiver is dynamic after the catch and creates consistent separation through his elite route running. He was tied for fourth among receivers with 27 missed tackles in 2025. He is elusive in open space, yet is powerful enough to barrel through arm tackles. Pair this with his superb use of tempo and prowess at the breaks of routes, and a potential franchise receiver emerges.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan would have a field day implementing Cooper in his offense. He thrives at scheming receivers open and giving them room to run after the catch. He would be a major addition and an amazing complement to Christian McCaffrey.
2:58- Caleb Tiernan, OT, Northwestern
The 49ers must address the offensive line this offseason. Both tackle and guard need improvement, with Trent Williams’ future uncertain and subpar play from the interior. Because of this, grabbing someone like Caleb Tiernan, who has positional versatility, would be wise.
The 6-foot-8, 323-pound tackle is an intriguing prospect because of his outstanding movement skills and size. Tiernan has amazing lateral mobility and can effortlessly mirror an opposing lineman. Additionally, he’s a threat in the screen game as he gets to the perimeter and takes out defenders.
The biggest issue with Tiernan is his arm length. He measured in at 32 ¼” arms, which is well under the NFL threshold. This has caused some analysts to project him inside to guard, but the problem is that he might be too big to play on the interior. The talent is undoubtedly there, however, the question is whether a team can find the right fit for him. This is why the 49ers would be a perfect spot, as Shanahan would undoubtedly find a role for Tiernan.
4:127- Emmett Johnson, HB, Nebraska
Christian McCaffrey was healthy in 2025 and recorded a career season; however, he can’t be relied upon to consistently play 17 games. Due to this, investing in another explosive backfield threat would be wise.
Johnson is incredibly elusive and frequently makes the first defender miss. His stock is trending down because of a mediocre NFL Combine performance, mostly regarding his 4.56 40-yard dash time, but this shouldn’t surprise scouts, as top-end speed isn’t a part of his game and likely won’t dramatically impact his position in April. He makes up for the lack of speed with his short-area quickness and vision, which helps him find an open lane and burst through it.
Rest of draft
4:133- Nadame Tucker, Edge, Western Michigan
4:138- Michael Taffe, S, Texas
5:171- Enrique Cruz Jr., OT, Kansas
