Faithful fans, rejoice! Iconic 49ers broadcasts continue with a legendary duo, as Greg Papa targets a triumphant return.

The San Francisco 49ers announced a multi year partnership extension with Cumulus Media's KNBR "The Sports Leader," ensuring that the iconic sounds of 49ers football will remain on the station that has served as its flagship since 2005.

The extension keeps the legendary broadcast duo of Greg Papa and Tim Ryan in the booth for years to come. The announcement carries extra weight as Papa continues his inspiring recovery from acute lymphoblastic leukemia. After he made a triumphant return for the regular season finale against Seattle last January, Papa is targeting the 2026 training camp and the team’s historic Week 1 opener in Melbourne for his full time return.

A Legacy Continued

"We at KNBR are tremendously excited to continue this valued partnership with the Niners," said Larry Blumhagen, Regional Vice President/Market Manager for Cumulus San Francisco/Los Angeles. "We have a wonderful relationship with the organization and its people, and they are truly a partner to us in connecting their fans with all the gameday action they love and demand."

The partnership, which has spanned over two decades, has documented the move to Levi's Stadium, numerous playoff runs, and the careers of modern 49ers legends.

"KNBR is woven into the fabric of the 49ers organization and what it means to be Faithful," added 49ers Chief Operating Officer Brent Schoeb. "We are thrilled to extend our long-term partnership and look forward to more legendary calls from Greg and Tim on gamedays."

NFL Draft Coverage: April 23-25

The extension comes just in time for the 2026 NFL Draft, where KNBR will provide wall to wall coverage.

  • The Draft Show: Originating from 49ers headquarters in Santa Clara, John Dickinson, Larry Krueger, and Todd Husak will lead the analysis for the 1st Round on April 23. The broadcast will feature exclusive interviews with head coach Kyle Shanahan, general manager John Lynch, and the team's first round selection.
  • Draft Watch Party: Fans can join the "The Sports Leader" crew at Jack’s Restaurant and Bar in San Jose. Hosts Adam Copeland, Derek Papa, and Markus Boucher will check in live throughout the night to share reactions from the Faithful and break down the 49ers' latest moves.
