With Deebo Samuel sidelined, George Kittle overcomes a grueling illness to anchor a depleted offense as San Francisco fights to protect their perfect record on Monday Night.
The San Francisco 49ers have an abundance of storylines for their game on Monday Night Football. The Niners take on star wide receiver Deebo Samuel's former team, the Washington Commanders.
Samuel isn't the only 49ers wide receiver who had his name linked to the Commanders this offseason. Brandon Aiyuk, whose holdout caused quite the commotion this summer, famously named the Commanders as his preferred team while in the middle of his disagreement with the Niners organization.
Aiyuk won't be playing against the Commanders, and neither will injured Niners wideout Deebo Samuel. Another 49ers star will, though.
San Francisco tight end George Kittle appears primed to return from his battle with a stomach bug of late. The news means the Niners will at least have a playmaker at tight end despite have injuries to Samuel and fellow wide receiver Mike Evans.
The Times of India discussed Kittle's return from sickness. Here's some of what they had to write.
Yes, the San Francisco 49ers’ tight end George Kittle is fully healthy and will play in tonight’s Monday Night Football matchup against the Washington Commanders.
According to the San Francisco 49ers’ recent injury report, star wide receiver Deebo Samuel has been ruled out with a hamstring injury while defensive end Nick Bosa is also sidelined with an injury. ...
George Kittle reportedly also ended up losing a lot of weight due to the stomach illness even though it has not been confirmed what really happened. As the San Francisco 49ers remain unbeatable on the field, all eyes remain on George Kittle as he gears up for the Week 6 clash tonight."
If we have learned anything from the past couple seasons, it's that the Niners can win with any number of lineups. They just win a lot easier when they have their full assortment of playmakers.
Samuel and Evans will be missed in the lineup, but Kittle is more than capable of picking up the slack. The potential addition of dynamic fullback Kyle Juszcyzk to the lineup only increases the floor and ceiling of the offense without their top two wideouts.
Regardless of who is out and who isn't there will be no excuses for failing to win if the Niners cannot pull off the victory. The Commanders have just won one game all year.
Kittle and company will hope to do enough to keep the Niners' perfect 5-0 record intact with a win on Monday night.
