The 49ers secured a "B" grade for offseason moves, bolstering their roster with key additions like Mike Evans and Osa Odighizuwa.

The Pro Football Focus recently released its free agency grades for all 32 NFL teams, and the San Francisco 49ers earned a B grade for their offseason moves so far.

PFF analyst Gordon McGuinness evaluated each team’s most impactful additions and roster decisions during the opening waves of free agency. For San Francisco, the biggest moves included signing wide receiver Mike Evans, bringing back linebacker Dre Greenlaw, adding cornerback Nate Hobbs, and trading for defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa.

Mike Evans bolsters the 49ers’ receiving corps

San Francisco’s wide receiver room is undergoing a major transition this offseason. Several familiar names have already departed, while others could soon follow. Veteran receivers Kendrick Bourne and Skyy Moore have moved on, Brandon Aiyuk is widely expected to be released, and Jauan Jennings remains one of the top receivers still available in free agency.

That made the addition of Evans a significant one for the 49ers.

After spending the first 12 seasons of his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Evans now joins San Francisco as a veteran presence in the passing game. While injuries slowed him during the 2025 season, he still managed solid efficiency numbers and remains one of the league’s most reliable receivers.

Osa Odighizuwa strengthens the defensive line

Another move highlighted by McGuinness was San Francisco’s trade for Odighizuwa from the Dallas Cowboys.

The defensive tackle has been one of the more consistent interior pass rushers in the league over the past several seasons. According to PFF data, Odighizuwa has recorded at least 50 pressures in each of the last four years while consistently earning strong pass rush grades.

For the 49ers, the trade addressed a key need along the defensive interior while adding a proven starting caliber player.

Dre Greenlaw returns to San Francisco

The 49ers also reunited with Greenlaw after his brief stint with the Denver Broncos.

Greenlaw originally developed into as a key defensive contributor in San Francisco after being drafted in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. His return sets up a reunion with All-Pro linebacker Fred Warner, recreating one of the NFL’s most productive linebacker duos.

Although injuries have limited Greenlaw’s availability over the past two seasons, he remains an elite run defender when healthy.

Nate Hobbs adds versatility in the secondary

San Francisco also added Hobbs to strengthen its defensive backfield.

The former Las Vegas Raiders cornerback has experience playing both outside and in the slot, giving the 49ers flexibility in their secondary. While his coverage grades have fluctuated in recent seasons, Hobbs has consistently been strong against the run and could benefit from a fresh start in San Francisco.

Comparing the NFC West

Within the NFL’s NFC West division, the 49ers’ grade placed them near the top of the group.

The Los Angeles Rams earned the highest grade in the division with an “A,” while the 49ers followed with a “B.” The Seattle Seahawks received a “B-,” and the Arizona Cardinals came in with a “C+.”

With free agency still ongoing and the NFL Draft approaching, San Francisco still has opportunities to improve its roster further. But according to PFF’s early evaluation, the 49ers have already made several impactful moves to position themselves well for the 2026 season.
