Brandon Aiyuk’s social media scrubbing signals a potential ceasefire as the disgruntled receiver shifts tactics, forcing San Francisco to choose between a messy release or a miracle trade.

After throwing countless insults the San Francisco 49ers' way, disgruntled wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has removed posts attacking the franchise from his personal Instagram account.

Aiyuk has accused the Niners of being "stupid" and "running from the belt" in an attempt to be moved elsewhere but hasn't yet found success through those means.

Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio believes Aiyuk's decision to scrub his social media of all Niners negativity could signal an end to the player-franchise standoff.

"Combined with his decision to extend an olive branch by deleting the videos, it’s hard not to wonder whether the 49ers have decided to abandon the effort to trade Aiyuk and to cut the cord in the coming days," Florio said. "That would avoid the awkward dance of Aiyuk showing up to training camp and forcing his release."

The consensus has long been that Aiyuk was pulling these antics in an attempt to force a trade to the Washington Commanders, allowing him to reunite with former Arizona State teammate Jayden Daniels.

There may have been a chance of San Francisco receiving something in return for Aiyuk once this whole soap opera began — but there isn't anymore. Aiyuk has done too much damage to his own personal stock for the Niners to get anything for him, at least as things currently stand.

Lynch and the Niners have tried, but they simply just don't have enough leverage here. If Washington remains interested in Aiyuk, it knows at this point that a release is likely coming, giving the Commanders and GM Adam Peters zero reason to throw any sort of offer Lunch's way.

"The 49ers have proven their point. By refusing to release Aiyuk and holding out hope for a trade, they’ve wiped out his ability to get up to speed through his new team’s offseason program," Florio continued. "At some point, rubbing Aiyuk’s nose in it takes the team’s eye off the bigger prize."

Florio makes a great point. Beyond wide receiver drama, the Niners are posied to — again — be one of the NFC's top squads with hopes of reaching Super Bowl LXI at SoFi Stadium.

But that journey can't begin until the Aiyuk cloud is burnt off from above San Francisco's facility.

Whether it's through a release or a trade partner miraculously emerging, the Aiyuk drama may soon be coming to an end after nearly two years of antics.
