The NFL’s "No Fun League" reputation hits a new peak as San Francisco’s "Juice" faces a staggering penalty for a signature celebration the league hilariously misinterpreted.

Just when you think league office priorities can't get any more backward, Park Avenue drops another head scratcher.

On Thursday, the NFL levied a $14,926 fine against San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk for "engaging in offensive demonstrations" during the team's Week 2 victory over the Miami Dolphins. According to the league’s disciplinary letter, Juszczyk’s violation stemmed from an "imitation of chugging a beer" following a score, which the NFL claimed was in "poor taste" and failed to reflect positively on the game.

Juszczyk’s immediate reaction on social media summed up what every fan was thinking: "Can’t make this stuff up..."

It Wasn't Beer. It Was Juice.

Here is where the fine crosses from strict rule enforcement into pure comedy.

Juszczyk, who is affectionately nicknamed "Juice" by teammates and fans throughout his decade-long career, has performed this exact celebration for years. Every time he picks up a first down or punches in a touchdown, he mimes tipping back a drink. When asked about it in past seasons, he has explicitly stated he's "drinking his juice".

Even better? As Juszczyk texted ESPN’s Adam Schefter shortly after appealing the fine: "I don't even drink beer."

Yet, the league office somehow deduced that a player nicknamed Juice, who does not drink alcohol, was secretly corrupting America’s youth by miming an invisible beer.

The Hypocrisy Is Staggering

The absurdity goes beyond misinterpreting a signature celebration.

The NFL slapped a near $15,000 fine on a harmless hand gesture while simultaneously:

  • Filling every broadcast commercial break with official beer, alcohol, and sports betting advertisements.
  • Raking in hundreds of millions in official league sponsorships with major breweries.
  • Handing out smaller financial penalties for dangerous late hits and helmet-to-helmet contact on the field.

It’s the classic "No Fun League" double standard of profiting off alcohol branding at every turn, but then fining a player thousands of dollars if he pretends to hold an invisible beverage for two seconds. The sheer inconsistency of punishing harmlessness like this while also plastering official beer sponsors on every screen makes the entire penalty feel completely out of touch.

What Do You Think?

Juszczyk has officially appealed the fine, and hopefully logic wins out in the end. But we want to hear from Niners Nation on this one. Was the league right to enforce the "offensive demonstration" rule, or is this another clear case of the NFL over policing fun on the field? Does a $14,926 fine make any sense here?
