Chicago is a city built on grit, loyalty, and heart — and nowhere is that spirit more alive than in its sports fans. It’s not just the cheers that echo through Wrigley’s bleachers at 1:20 on a summer afternoon, or the way Soldier Field seems to shake with every third-down stop. It’s not even the camaraderie that fills Lot B outside Rate Field on game day.
It’s deeper than that. It’s the way generations pass down stories like heirlooms — tales of heartbreak that turned “Bartman” and “Parkey” into household names, triumphs that will never fade. It’s the way loyalty endures when the wins don’t come easy, the way hope is always renewed when the next season begins. Chicago fandom isn’t a pastime. It’s a personal relationship — sometimes complicated, always enduring, and forever unbreakable.
And that’s what makes this city, these teams, and these fans so special.
I know you, because I am you. I grew up in the Chicagoland suburbs along for the very same rollercoaster ride. I’ve felt the joy of 17 miraculous seconds in Boston, the sting of the Double Doink that still haunts us all, and the pride that never fades, no matter the record.
Chicago sports have shaped me. They taught me resilience, loyalty, and how to carry both heartbreak and hope with unwavering devotion, and it was this ardor that guided the path I chose in life. I went to college with a single-minded focus: turning my love for these teams into a career. After graduation, I spent years in the press box, covering the Tennessee Titans, the NFL, and the SEC. But it has always been my goal to cover the teams that first ignited my love for sports.
I could not be more proud to introduce you to Bears on Roundtable.
Roundtable isn’t just another sports site. It’s a vision brought to life — a community where fans aren’t just readers, but active participants in the conversation. This is about building a space where authenticity thrives, where every fan’s voice matters, and where the love for the game is celebrated in its purest form.
You’ll get breaking news, analysis, and sharp takes from me, but you’ll also get something more personal: honesty. Chicago fans are unique. Loyal, tough, passionate, and sometimes brutally honest — and that’s exactly how I plan to write this column.
So here’s to the seasons ahead, the stories yet to be written, and to the fans who live and breathe sports like no other.
Welcome to the Roundtable, Chicago. I’m glad you’re here.
