Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams had plenty of growth in 2025.
Now, he's looking ahead to what he can improve on in 2026.
Including the playoffs, Williams finished his sophomore season in the NFL with 4,560 passing yards, 31 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He had an impressive regular season, but it was evident that Williams struggled in what was his first taste of the playoffs in the NFL.
Williams had 618 passing yards, four touchdowns and five interceptions. His last interception wasn't great, as he underthrew a pass intended for D.J. Moore.
There are definitely some improvements that Williams can make as he heads into his third NFL season, and he would agree.
He appeared on a recent episode of "The Rush With Maxx Crosby" to outline what his goals were for the 2026 season. His first goal was to complete more passes.
Williams' completion percentage dropped from 62.5% in 2024 to 58.1% in 2025.
"One, is you know, completing more passes," Williams said. "Whether it was drops or I was throwing it out. Actually, I had a bunch of throwouts and throwing the ball out of bounds, then there were some drops and things like that. Maybe helping them out. More easy catches, getting drives going, keeping us on the field more often."
Next up was becoming more comfortable, now that he has two years of NFL experience. Williams would like more comfort with hand signals, checks, and similar procedures.
"Second is just handling more overall. Second year in the league this past year. Did more than I did in my first year, between checks and hand signals and things like that. You know, just getting more into that world."
His last goal may be the hardest, but not completely out of reach. Williams said he wanted to have the best offense in the NFL in 2026.
This could be challenging, considering the Bears will have a new offensive coordinator in 2026. Declan Doyle left to become the next OC of the Baltimore Ravens. In his place, the Bears hired passing game coordinator Press Taylor.
It won't be Taylor's first stint as an OC, as he held the same role with the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2022-24. The Bears ranked 12th in passing yards (234.8), third in rushing yards (144.8) and ninth in points per game (25.9).
"Then, the last one is I really wanna become the greatest offense this year," Williams said. "That's really on my mind."
Williams and the Bears will need to improve in 2026 if they want to reach the postseason again. We know just how unforgiving the NFL can be.
