Caleb Williams was on another level in 2025.
In 17 games during the regular season, he had 3,942 passing yards, 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He became the Chicago Bears record-holder for single-season passing yards, replacing Erik Kramer's numbers from the 1995 campaign.
The quarterback wasn't perfect by any sense of the word. He struggled during the playoffs. He had 618 passing yards, four touchdowns and five interceptions.
However, he made some big-time throws when needed. One of which was the insane fourth-down touchdown pass to Cole Kmet in the Divisional Round against the Los Angeles Rams.
With multiple pass rushers in his face, Williams threw a touchdown to Kmet to tie the game and force overtime. The Bears went on to lose to the Rams 20-17 in overtime.
On Wednesday, Williams hit another milestone with the Bears. He was named the Bears' Offensive Player of the Year.
It was a very successful season for not only the Bears but also Williams. He set new career highs in passing yards and touchdowns.
It definitely helps when you go from the most sacked quarterback in the league as a rookie to one of the least sacked in 2025. Williams was sacked 68 times in 2024, and he only took 24 sacks this past season.
He also had just one offensive coordinator this season compared to the multiple he had as a rookie. He went from Shane Waldron to Thomas Brown, then to Chris Beatty after Matt Eberflus was fired.
While he made a lot of improvements in year two, he knows he'll need to be even better in year three. Williams spoke at his final media availability of the 2025 season and shared with reporters the two things that he is going to prioritize getting better at in the offseason.
The quarterback is making sure to work on his footwork and throwing accuracy.
Williams' current OC may be on the move, however. Declan Doyle has already been interviewed by the Philadelphia Eagles, but withdrew his name from consideration.
Now, Doyle has been asked to speak with the Baltimore Ravens, who have an opening at head coach and OC, with the departures of John Harbaugh and Todd Monken.
Hopefully, Doyle can be persuaded to stick around with the Bears for longer as Williams continues to improve.
Williams and the Bears enter 2026 with plenty of momentum under Ben Johnson.
