The NFL’s most storied feud heads to Soldier Field on Christmas Day as Chicago unveils custom Nike threads designed to celebrate the intense history between these bitter rivals.
The Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers rivalry is without a doubt the best in the NFL.
No matter what the record is, both teams are going to give their all on the football field. We saw this in 2024, when the Bears were very much out of the playoff race towards the end of the season, and beat the Packers on a game-winning field goal.
In the first meeting that season, Chicago lost by one point after a blocked game-winner.
The 2025 campaign had the Bears and Packers face off three times, twice in the regular season and once in the playoffs. The series was split evenly in the regular season, with the Packers winning 28-21 in Week 14 and the Bears getting revenge in a 22-16 overtime thriller in Week 16.
Chicago then handed Green Bay another loss in the Wild Card in a 31-27 win at Soldier Field. The Bears were down 21-3 at one point in the fourth quarter and came back to win.
Head coach Ben Johnson has done his part in keeping the hatred between the two franchises alive, from his lackadaisical handshake with Matt LaFleur to publicly declaring that he doesn't pursue a friendship with him outside of football at the NFL Combine.
The NFL understands the importance of these rivalries and is working with Nike to release themed uniforms for certain matchups this season.
According to the team's website, the Bears-Packers rivalry is getting a special uniform for this season, which will debut on Christmas Day at Soldier Field. The NFL and Nike "Rivalries" program launched in 2025, and this will be the first time the Bears have been featured in it.
The uniforms themselves haven't been released yet, but the possibilities are endless.
"The Bears' Christmas Day matchup against the Green Bay Packers will serve as part of the NFL and Nike's 'Rivalries' program, which launched in 2025 to celebrate the traditions, communities and competitive spirit surrounding some of the league's most iconic matchups through specially designed uniforms, apparel and fan gear inspired by each team's local identity and culture," the franchise shared. "The 2026 season will mark the first year the Bears participate in the 'Rivalries' initiative, highlighted by the debut of the team's unique uniform during the nationally showcased matchup against the Packers. The Christmas Day game will add another chapter to one of the NFL's most historic and recognizable divisional rivalries, while featuring enhanced entertainment, themed in-game elements, and a heightened gameday atmosphere celebrating the intensity and tradition of Bears-Packers football."
The Bears and Packers are two of the oldest franchises in the NFL. The Bears have been around since 1920, while the Packers were formed in 1921.
Both have rich histories and contributed greatly to the NFL's legacy. Now, fans are in for a real treat on Christmas Day at Soldier Field.
