Despite a clean injury report, Lamar Jackson sits out against the Bears. Tyler Huntley steps in as Ravens' offensive leader.
In a crazy turn of events, it looks like the Baltimore Ravens won't be playing Lamar Jackson against the Chicago Bears on Sunday.
Jackson has been out since Week 4 with a hamstring injury, and it was starting to appear that he would be seeing the field in Week 8. Jackson was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday, but was upgraded to a full participant on Friday.
However, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Saturday that the Ravens quarterback would be out for the Bears' game. In Jackson's absence, Baltimore will be starting Tyler "Snoop" Huntley under center. The team previously started Cooper Rush, but he was benched in the 17-3 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
Schefter stated that Jackson's return date is set for Thursday Night Football versus the Miami Dolphins.
Besides Jackson, the Ravens are gaining all of their players back who appeared on Friday's injury report.
Cornerback Chidobe Awuzie (hamstring), receiver Zay Flowers (shoulder), safety Kyle Hamilton (groin), receiver DeAndre Hopkins (illness), cornerback Marlon Humphrey (illness), fullback Patrick Ricard (calf), linebacker Roquan Smith (hamstring), offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley (ankle) and receiver DeVontez Walker (oblique) didn't have injury designations.
Before the injury, Jackson had recorded 869 passing yards, 11 total touchdowns, 166 rushing yards and one interception.
The Bears are going to be without two of their top corners for the game, with Tyrique Stevenson (shoulder) and Kyler Gordon (groin) both listed as out. Chicago is lucky that both of the corners are not playing against Jackson.
Huntley has thrown for 2,854 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in his career. He is in his second stint with Baltimore, after joining the Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He was initially with the Ravens from 2020-23, before joining the Dolphins for one season in 2024.
Huntley has played in one game in 2025, accounting for 68 passing yards.
The line has moved again after it originally favored the Ravens by 6.5 points. It jumped to 7.5, but has gone down to 2.5 in favor of Baltimore via ESPN BET.
Chicago also ruled out Braxton Jones, running back Roschon Johnson and tight end Cole Kmet. Jones was benched earlier this season for Theo Benedet, who has started three games at left tackle. Johnson suffered a back injury, and Kmet is dealing with one as well, which he sustained in the 26-14 win over the New Orleans Saints.
It's crazy how fast things can change in the NFL. Sunday's game kicks off at noon CT on CBS.
