A trade deadline acquisition, Joe Tryon-Shoyinka boasts a high pass-rush win rate, offering a glimmer of hope for the Bears' struggling defense.

The Chicago Bears weren't super busy at Tuesday's NFL trade deadline, making one move before the 3 p.m. CT cutoff.

The Bears traded for pass rusher Joe Tryon-Shoyinka with the Cleveland Browns for a sixth-round pick and received a seventh-round pick as well.

While the secondary is significantly injured, multiple ailments have recently plagued the pass rushers for Chicago. After the 47-42 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, it was revealed that edge rusher Dayo Odeyingbo suffered a torn Achilles tendon, ending his year.

In the 30-16 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, rookie Shemar Turner tore his ACL and is also out for the season.

Tryon-Shoyinka was with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the first for seasons of his NFL career. He racked up 138 total tackles, 15 sacks and 21 TFLs. Before being traded from the Browns, he had nine total tackles in eight games with no starts.

While his numbers with Cleveland are concerning, a recent stat from Windy City Gridiron's Jacob Infante gave fans something to feel good about when it came to the trade. Tryon-Shoyinka is fourth-best in pass rush win rate in the NFL, at 29.2%.

Listen, I'm not saying that the Bears' pass rushing problems are going to be fixed overnight by adding a player like Tryon-Shoyinka. However, you can't tell me that a stat like that isn't worth noting.

Regardless of whether he'll be a big help in that area or not, the Bears are still one of the worst teams in sacks.

Chicago ranks 21st in sacks this season with 17 heading into the Week 10 slate. Losing players like Turner or Odeyingbo for the season isn't going to help, so it's never a bad thing to add Tryon-Shoyinka to the mix.

Tryon-Shoyinka has been in the NFL since 2021 after he was drafted by Tampa Bay in the first round of that year's draft. He played college football at Washington and was Second-Team All-Pac-12 in 2019.

It'll be interesting to see how defensive coordinator Dennis Allen uses the new pass rusher. Will he put Tryon-Shoyinka out there right away, or will Allen slowly work him in?

Fans will have to wait and see as the Bears play again on Sunday, taking on the New York Giants at Soldier Field after a two-game road stretch.

Caleb Williams and the Bears face Jaxson Dart and the Giants at noon CT on Fox.
