The bitter rivalry reaches a fever pitch as Green Bay supporters downplay division titles and playoff exits following Chicago’s resurgence and Caleb Williams’ postseason success over Jordan Love.
Few fanbases in the NFL have as much hate for each other as the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears.
Even Bears head coach Ben Johnson is keeping the hate flowing. He tripled down on his stance on hating the Packers this offseason. He even said that he doesn't have an off-the-field relationship with Packers head coach Matt LaFleur.
The Bears bested the Packers in two of their three meetings last season. I think most Bears fans would agree that their favorite of the two wins was in the postseason, as a fourth-quarter comeback ended the Packers' season.
Chicago had another thing over Green Bay last season, which was winning the NFC North for the first time since 2018. Recently, each NFC North quarterback was analyzed, and it was determined that Jordan Love doesn't have a division title to his name, while Caleb Williams does after two years in the NFL.
This sparked a response on an NFC North podcast. On a recent episode of the "Freezin for the North Pod," one Packers fan showed just how delusional the fanbase has become.
The fan mentioned that Love went 1-1 in the playoffs in his first year as a starter and pointed out that it took Williams his second year to achieve the same feat.
"You can clip this," the Packers fan said. "Jordan Love has never won an NFC North title, but in his three years as a starter, he's made the playoffs every single time. In his first year as a starter, he was 1-1. Guess who else was 1-1 in his first year as a starter? Second year, technically. Caleb Williams. The audacity. This mentality that Bears fans think they're going on a run. It's hard to win in the NFL, boys and girls. It is not easy. It's hard to make the playoffs. It's hard to win playoff games. We're gonna find out real soon how hard it is, and whether the Bears can avoid injury, can avoid regression. That's what we're about to find out."
The Packers fan then downplayed the importance of winning the division and argued that making the playoffs is better because you have a shot at winning the Super Bowl.
This is an interesting take considering that Love hasn't made it past the first round since his first year as a starter in 2023.
The Bears have really gotten in the Packers' fans' heads after winning the division and eliminating them from the playoffs.
The Bears have only recently returned to the playoffs and have already had more postseason success than the Packers in the last two years.
This only adds to the hatred between the two fanbases, and we should be in for a real treat this season when the Bears and Packers face each other again. We won't have to wait too long for the first meeting, as the Bears see the Packers at Soldier Field on Oct. 11.
It seems that there is a big difference between being delusional and being a Packers fan.
