A Packers legend learns the hard way that NFL rivalries never sleep, as Chicago fans relentlessly remind him of his draft-day taunts following a string of losses.
The Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers don't get along; that's just the way it is.
It's one of the oldest rivalries in the NFL for a reason, because of the long-standing hatred that the two franchises have for each other.
Fans were treated to three games in the rivalry last season, with two in the regular season and one in the playoffs. The Packers took the first game in Week 14, and then the Bears answered back with an overtime win in Week 16 to even the season series.
Then, the Bears eliminated the Packers from the playoffs with a wild, fourth-quarter comeback.
The rivalry means a lot to both fan bases, and even former players have gotten involved.
The 2025 NFL Draft was held in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Former Packers linebacker Clay Matthews went on stage and had a bit where he said that he got a call from President Donald Trump, who told him to pass along a message.
He then pulled out a piece of paper that simply read, "The Bears Still Suck."
It's safe to say that joke hasn't aged well for Matthews, as the Packers have gone 1-2 against the Bears since those comments. Matthews played for the Packers from 2009-2018, making six Pro Bowls.
Matthews went on "Bussin With The Boys" and shared that Bears fans are still reminding him of those comments.
He shared how he was in the process of getting mail sent to his new address, and that the lady who set it up gave him a hard time about his draft comments. It's fair to say that even though Matthews has been retired since 2019, the losses to the Bears still hurt.
"Yeah, I was upset last year," Matthews said. "So, do I feel the pain? No. But like if I'm gonna go up there on draft night and say what I say, you can't just be like, 'Ha ha, I don't care. Like, it's nothing, we got a Super Bowl.' So, yes, I was a little upset. I went to the post office. I was moving addresses, and I'm getting a change of mail thing going. The lady looks at me, 'Oh, I thought I recognized you.' She's like, 'Alright, you're all good to go.' I was like, 'I'm all good?' And she was like, 'Oh yeah, do the Bears still suck?' And I was like ****."
It's great to see that not even someone like Matthews can escape the rivalry even though he hasn't played for the Packers since 2018. Bears fans are the best in the NFL for a reason.
