Bears CB Nahshon Wright Responds to Pro Bowl Snub cover image

Despite a standout season and league-leading takeaways, Nahshon Wright voices his disappointment over a Pro Bowl snub, setting his sights on future accolades.

The official Pro Bowl teams for the AFC and NFC were released on Tuesday, and one major Chicago Bears player was snubbed.

The Bears had safety Kevin Byard III, center Drew Dalman, and guard Joe Thuney, all of whom deservingly made it. However, cornerback Nahshon Wright was left out surprisingly despite having a breakout season.

Wright has 67 total tackles, five interceptions, three TFLs, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.

Wright's breakout year couldn't have come at a better time with the injuries to Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon in 2025. Johnson (groin) and Gordon (calf) came back from the injured reserve in Week 13.

Johnson suffered his injury in Week 2, but Gordon has dealt with multiple already. Gordon has dealt with hamstring, calf and most recently, a groin injury in pregame warmups in Week 14.

The corner was asked about his thoughts on missing the Pro Bowl, and noted that while it was a little disappointing, he was happy to be considered, via The Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs

"I would say I was probably more hopeful than anything," Wright said. "I mean, you'd think if you lead the league in takeaways, that's gotta count for something, right? It's cool just coming from what I had to overcome."

Wright is in his first season with Chicago. He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 2021 out of Oregon State. He spent three years with Dallas before joining the Minnesota Vikings in 2024.

The only player with more interceptions than Wright is his teammate, Byard. Byard leads the NFL with six interceptions, but Wright was still snubbed.

There's no doubt that if Wright keeps playing as he did in 2025, he will be considered for more Pro Bowls in the near future. The 27-year-old is on a one-year, $1.1 million contract with the Bears and hopefully will be sticking around in Chicago after this season.

The Bears have two regular-season games remaining, taking on the San Francisco 49ers before facing the Detroit Lions. Chicago is on the road after winning both of its last home games against the Cleveland Browns and Green Bay Packers.

Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers helped the Bears clinch a playoff spot after taking down the Lions 29-24.

The job isn't done for Chicago, though. The Bears can still win the NFC North and claim the No. 1 seed in the NFC. The Seattle Seahawks need to lose one of their last two games, and the Bears must win out to do so.

Sunday's game with the 49ers is at 7:20 p.m. CT on NBC and Peacock.
