Chicago’s suffocating defense and relentless ground game left the Jets gasping for air, prompting the veteran linebacker to mock New York’s inability to even stay on the field.
The Chicago Bears beat the New York Jets 23-12 on Sunday, but it shouldn't have been that close.
The Bears' offense dominated for four quarters. To see how, look at the time-of-possession stats.
Chicago had the ball for 42:45, while New York had possession for only 17:15. In the fourth quarter, the Jets held the ball for 45 seconds, a ridiculous stat that shows how good the defense was in Week 4.
The Bears are the fourth team since the 1970 Merger to have 57 more plays than the other team in a single game.
It was an all-around dominant performance for the Bears.
Devin Bush was one of the game's standouts. He finished with four total tackles, one sack and one TFL.
When asked about what it was like on the sidelines and how long the offense was on the field, he gave a perfect answer. Beyond saying it was one of the easiest football games he's ever played, he threw shade at the Jets even more.
Bush shared that he was honestly bored on the sidelines watching the offense hold onto the ball and extend drives.
"Yeah, it was boring," Bush said. "I got bored. I got bored a couple times. I had to stay warm just in case. I know we had couple sudden change moments, but you know, I feel like that got the defense going. We had an opportunity to get put in situations where we got to step up and, you know, play to our standard. So, it was good."
That should tell you everything you need to know about how much a better team the Bears were compared to the Jets at Soldier Field on Sunday.
The Bears did this with backup quarterback Tyson Bagent under center. He threw an early interception but still finished with a respectable 268 passing yards.
The offense was successful in running the football. Kyle Monangai led the way with 146 rushing yards and two touchdowns. D'Andre Swift had 58 rushing yards, and the team ran for 232 yards on the ground as a whole.
This game was a Ben Johnson staple on offense. The Bears prioritized being the more physical team and ran the football until the Jets stopped them.
The problem for the Jets was that they simply couldn't keep the Bears from running the ball.
This was another game where the Bears proved they have the right weapons on offense to win without Caleb Williams in the lineup, who is still recovering from a hamstring injury.
The Bears may need to rely on this strategy for a couple more games until Williams is back. Even then, we know Johnson will still try to play that way week in and week out.
The Bears are now 3-1 and will take on the Green Bay Packers in Week 5. Kickoff is set for noon CT on Fox.
