Uncover the overlooked talent the Chicago Bears snatched up post-draft. See which undrafted free agents are vying for roster spots and aiming for impact.

The Chicago Bears had arguably one of their most important drafts of the Ryan Poles era at General Manager this past weekend.

After making the playoffs for the first time since 2020, the Bears need sustained success through the draft.

Chicago took Oregon safety Dillon Thieneman, Iowa center Logan Jones, Stanford tight end Sam Roush, LSU receiver Zavion Thomas, Texas corner Malik Muhammad, Arizona State linebacker Keyshaun Elliott and Georgia Tech defensive tackle Jordan Van Den Berg.

Big needs were filled.

The Bears needed another starting safety after losing Kevin Byard and Jaquan Brisker in free agency. Jones, Roush, Muhammad, Thomas, Elliott and Van Den Berg are depth pieces at the minimum but could challenge for starting roles in the near future.

Now, it's time for undrafted free agents.

Poles has historically had a good eye for UDFAs during his time as GM. It started with Jack Sanborn, then there have also been players like Jahdae Walker and Theo Benedet, most recently.

The Bears are holding their rookie minicamp either from May 1-4 or May 8-11.

Here are all the undrafted free agents and tryouts for the Bears so far:

UDFA Tryouts

  • Illinois C Josh Kreutz
  • UWL OT Dain Walter
  • Texas Tech DE Terrell Tilmon
  • Hawaii RB Christian Vaughn
  • Louisiana OL Jax Harrington
  • UConn DB Devin Pringle
  • EKU DB Jaheim Ward
  • Youngstown State DB D.J. Harris
  • Michigan State LB Wayne Matthews III
  • Holy Cross OL Pat McMurtrie
  • Kansas RB Leshon Williams
  • Oregon State DE Nikko Taylor
  • Northwestern LB Mac Uihlein

UDFA Signees

Utah Center Jaren Kump

He played in 59 games with 40 starts at Utah.

Kump was up for the Rimington and William V. Campbell Trophies this past season. Kump's primary position was center, but he played every position on the offensive line in college.

He had 29 starts at center, seven at right tackle, three at left tackle and one each at both guard spots.

Kump has plenty of size, coming at a 6-foot-5, 313 pounds.

Louisville QB Miller Moss

Miller Moss started out at USC before transferring to Louisville in 2025.

He spent three seasons with the Trojans and finally landed the starting job in 2024. Moss was actually the quarterback who took over at USC after Caleb Williams went on to the NFL and was drafted by the Bears.

Moss started nine games for the Trojans in 2024 before being benched for Jayden Maiava. He threw for 2,679 passing yards, 16 touchdowns and seven interceptions at Louisville last season.

Wyoming OL Caden Barnett

Barnett is another versatile offensive lineman that the Bears have signed.

He spent his time at Wyoming split between offensive tackle and guard. Barnett has 21 starts from his time with the Cowboys. He looks very menacing at 6-foot-5, 320 pounds.

Could be just the kind of player Ben Johnson wants for his offensive line.

San Diego State K Gabriel Plascencia

Gabriel Plascencia comes to the Bears after kicking at the college level for San Diego State.

He was perfect on extra points and went 19-23 on field goals during his final season with the program. His longest make was from 53 yards out.

It seems Plascencia is going to be the next man up at kicker now that Jake Moody is no longer with the team.

Tulane CB K.C. Eziomume

K.C. Eziomume spent most of his college career with FCS programs Alabama A&M and Albany.

He recorded 23 total tackles and nine pass breakups at Alabama A&M from 2023-24, and then transferred to Albany. Eziomume used the spring transfer window to join Tulane in early 2025.

At Tulane, he recorded six pass breakups.

After losing Nahshon Wright and C.J. Gardner-Johnson in free agency, the Bears will take all the reserve help at corner they can get. At the least, Eziomume can be on the practice squad.

Kennesaw State RB Coleman Bennett

Kennesaw State was a great story from last season.

They moved up to the FBS level in 2024 but struggled, winning only two games. Then in 2025, they went 10-3 and won their conference.

Coleman Bennett was one of the players responsible for the turnaround. He transferred in from Rice and led Kennesaw State with 764 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

He joins a running back room of D'Andre Swift, Kyle Monangai, Roschon Johnson, Brittain Brown and Deion Hankins.

Oregon State S Skyler Thomas

Skyler Thomas rarely missed any games at Oregon State throughout his college career.

Last season, he had 78 total tackles and one interception. A very experienced player, with 49 games played and 14 starts. He had a season-high nine tackles against Cal last season.

Wake Forest DT Jayden Loving

Jayden Loving started his college career at Western Kentucky before transferring to Wake Forest in 2025.

He is 6-foot-1, 309 pounds. Loving just recorded 44 total tackles, 8.5 TFLs and 2.5 sacks last season.

Florida State WR Squirrel White

One of the most unique rookie names belongs to Squirrel White out of Florida State.

He transferred in from Tennessee and missed a few games due to injury in 2025. White only recorded 52 receiving yards last season at Florida State. His career high in receiving yards was 803 at Tennessee in 2023.

He got his name from his great-grandmother, who said he mimicked a squirrel's movement in her garden.

Georgia LS Beau Gardner

It never hurts to have a backup option at a position like long snapper, with so few players on a roster at the position.

Beau Gardner is going to be behind Luke Elkin at long snapper after being Georgia's starter there for the last two years.

Iowa TE Hayden Large

Another Iowa tight end has entered the league in the form of Hayden Large.

Large was behind D.J. Vonnahme and Zach Ortwerth in the Iowa tight end room. He also played fullback for the Hawkeyes.

He joins the Iowa tight end legacy in the NFL with George Kittle and T.J. Hockenson.

Michigan State WR Omari Kelly

Omari Kelly has probably moved around the most out of the Bears' UDFAs.

He started out at Auburn in 2022, then transferred to MTSU before landing at Michigan State in 2025. He finished second on the team with 626 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

A productive receiver at the college level.

Auburn OT Mason Murphy

Mason Murphy isn't as well-known as his former teammate Connor Lew, but still started 12 games for Auburn in 2025.

Murphy started the first nine games of the season at right tackle before moving to center following the season-ending injury to Lew. Before Auburn, he played at USC, making 22 starts in 33 games.
