If you're a fan of exciting NFL games, then Sunday's matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears was for you.
The game went down to the wire, as Chicago battled back from a 14-3 halftime deficit to tie the game at 21 in the fourth quarter. Caleb Williams threw a touchdown pass to tight end Colston Loveland to tie the game with eight minutes left.
However, the Packers went down and scored on a Josh Jacobs touchdown rush to make it 28-21 with 3:32 remaining.
Chicago drove down the field and found itself in a critical 4th-and-1 on the Green Bay 14-yard line with 27 seconds left. Head coach Ben Johnson decided to pass instead of running the ball, and Williams threw an interception to Keisean Nixon.
Packers' edge rusher Micah Parsons spoke about the Bears' last drive of the game and was surprised by how they ran the ball more instead of throwing it. He stated that it seemed like Chicago was playing to score three points instead of seven, as ESPN's Courtney Cronin reported.
"I think overall, was pretty surprised how they approached 2-minute," Parsons said. "It’s 2-minute and you’ve got to get seven, and they’re playing like they need to play for three. Running the ball, not wanting to do any dropbacks, a completely different expectation than what I expected to see in a gotta-have-it situation. It’s something that we’ve got to look at, but overall, I was surprised about the calls in total. I mean, 20 seconds left in a gotta-have-it situation, I understand the timeouts, too, I mean, they had two timeouts."
Parsons in picking right up where he left off during his first season in Green Bay. He has 12.5 sacks, 39 total tackles and 12 TFLs. He was traded to the Packers in the offseason from the Dallas Cowboys.
Johnson's decision surprised a lot of people, but looking back it was the right one. Tight end Cole Kmet would have been open if Nixon didn't switch over to him after initially being responsible for D.J. Moore.
The move didn't pay off and enters Week 15 at 9-4. The Bears hold the No. 7 seed and the No. 2 spot in the NFC North.
The Bears face the Cleveland Browns next on Sunday from Soldier Field. Chicago will take on rookie Shedeur Sanders, who just put up 364 passing yards, three touchdowns and one interception in a 31-29 loss to the Tennessee Titans.
Kickoff will be at noon CT on Fox.
