The Chicago Bears won on Saturday night, but it didn't come with losses involving key players.
The Bears are through to the Divisional Round after beating the Green Bay Packers 31-27. Chicago was down 21-3 at halftime and rallied in the second for another comeback win over Green Bay this season.
The win felt similar to Week 16, when Chicago did not score a touchdown until the fourth quarter. The Bears rallied from a 16-6 deficit late in the fourth quarter of that game to get the win in overtime.
This Wild Card win is going to be talked about for a long time. However, it looks like the two players' seasons ended at Soldier Field on Saturday.
Linebacker T.J. Edwards and left tackle Ozzy Trapilo are going to be done for the season, it seems, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Edwards suffered a fractured fibula, and Trapilo has a patellar injury that will end his season.
Edwards was carted off the field, while Trapilo limped to the sidelines before being helped by medical staff.
Edwards has already missed significant time this season with injuries. He initially suffered a hamstring injury in the 52-21 loss to the Detroit Lions back in Week 2. He then returned against the Washington Commanders and played until Week 9 before suffering a hand injury that required surgery.
Edwards fought through again and came back in Week 14 to face the Packers. He was able to finish out the regular season and play in Saturday night's game, but his season is sadly over now.
The veteran linebacker ended the year with 67 total tackles, two TFLs, 0.5 sacks and one interception in 10 games played.
For Trapilo, it is a disappointing end to what turned out to be a great rookie season. Trapilo didn't start the year as the Bears' starting left tackle.
That role was initially held by Braxton Jones, who was later benched in favor of Theo Benedet after a few games. Benedet was then ruled out before the Week 12 meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Trapilo had to deal with veteran edge rusher T.J. Watt, but held his own and won the starting job for the rest of the season. Chicago selected Trapilo in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft out of Boston College.
Even though it's unfortunate that his season ended this way, it's good knowing that the Bears have found their left tackle of the future in Trapilo.
This is just a part of the NFL, as the Bears will be without two of their starters going forward into the playoffs.
