The inaugural Fanatics Flag Football Classic Held on March 21 at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles and featured a mix of current NFL stars, retired legends and celebrities, all competing in a five-on-five format aimed at promoting flag football ahead of its Olympic debut in 2028.
The event brought together some of the biggest names in football. NFL legend Tom Brady, Jalen Hurts and Cincinnati Bengals’ Joe Burrow headlined the quarterback group, while skill players included Saquon Barkley, Odell Beckham Jr., DeAndre Hopkins and Davante Adams.
Defensively, stars like Von Miller, Jalen Ramsey and retired linebacker Luke Kuechly also featured, while Rob Gronkowski added to the list of former greats involved.
While the event had many notable highlights, one lighthearted moment involving Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Adams has sparked discussion across the NFL.
During a “pass the phone” segment, Adams said, “I’m going to pass the phone to a guy I’ve always wanted to play with,” before handing it to Burrow.
The clip went viral as fans painted scenarios of the possibility of pairing two elite players with proven resumes.
Adams, a six-time Pro Bowl selection, has emerged as one of the NFL’s best wide receivers. Throughout his 12-year career, he has recorded 1,017 catches for 12,633 yards and has scored 117 touchdowns, establishing himself as one of the most productive receivers of his era. Much of that success came alongside Aaron Rodgers with the Green Bay Packers, where he led the league in receiving yards three times.
In his first season in LA, Adams caught 60 passes for 789 yards and scored 14 touchdowns in 14 games and helped the Rams reach the NFC Championship Game alongside reigning league MVP Matthew Stanford.
Burrow has followed a similar path to success in the NFL, building his reputation as one of the best quarterbacks in the league. Since entering the NFL as the No. 1 overall pick in 2020, he has thrown for 20,810 yards and 157 touchdowns, completing 68.5% of his passes.
Burrow had one of his best seasons in 2021 when he finished with 4,611 passing yards and 34 touchdowns, and helped Cincinnati reach Super Bowl LVI. Alongside wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, Burrow has consistently operated one of the league’s most productive receiving units.
While both Adams and Burrow are poised to remain on their respective teams in 2026, it would be interesting to see if both stars get the chance to play on the same NFL team in the future.
