The Cincinnati Bengals highlighted Joe Burrow on Sunday after a frustrating season.
The Cincinnati Bengals closed the book on another frustrating season in January, one that again fell well short of expectations for a franchise that once appeared set up for a long championship window.
Injuries, inconsistency and a lack of offensive rhythm defined much of the year, leaving Cincinnati outside the playoff picture and searching for answers heading into the offseason. Despite the disappointment, the organization took a moment to recognize one of the few constants in an otherwise turbulent campaign on Sunday.
Joe Burrow’s sixth NFL season was far from smooth, but it still reinforced his standing as one of the league’s best quarterbacks. Cincinnati struggled to find sustained momentum, finishing with a 6-11 record and failing to capitalize on a roster built to contend. Close losses piled up, the offensive line continued to be a talking point, and the Bengals once again found themselves watching the postseason from home.
Even so, Burrow’s individual performance remained strong. The 29-year-old threw for 1,809 yards with 17 touchdowns and 5 interceptions, completing 66.8% of his passes.
He also added value with his legs, extending plays and converting key third downs in situations where the offense otherwise stalled. While his numbers did not translate into wins, they underscored his ability to perform at a high level regardless of circumstances.
As the season wrapped up, the Bengals acknowledged Burrow’s latest accolade on social media. “That’s 3x Pro Joe,” the team wrote on X, recognizing his third Pro Bowl selection and reinforcing his status as the face of the franchise.
Burrow’s legacy has continued to grow. Since entering the league as the No. 1 overall pick in 2020, he has led Cincinnati to a Super Bowl appearance and guided the team to back-to-back AFC Championship Games earlier in his career.
His calm demeanor, accuracy and leadership have made him one of the most respected quarterbacks in the NFL, even as team success has fluctuated.
Looking ahead, the Bengals face difficult questions. Burrow remains under contract, but continued disappointment could force the organization to reexamine its long-term direction.
With cap constraints looming and key roster decisions approaching, some around the league have begun to wonder whether Cincinnati could eventually consider a dramatic reset that includes moving on from its franchise quarterback.
For now, Burrow remains the centerpiece of the Bengals’ future, but patience is wearing thin. The talent is undeniable, and the honors keep coming, yet results have not followed. If Cincinnati cannot turn individual excellence into team success soon, conversations that once felt unthinkable may become unavoidable.
