Stefon Diggs thinks he's the best WR2 in the NFL. Here's why Tee Higgins is better than him.

Stefon Diggs has had a newsworthy offseason for all the wrong reasons, involving multiple lawsuits with serious allegations against him. One ruled in Diggs' favor, while the other involved a $10 million settlement with Diggs' brother.

All the while, Diggs is a free agent after a season in New England catching passes from Drake Maye. Shortly after the settlement in the last lawsuit, Diggs is now making his case to sign with an NFL team.

His latest effort to sell himself involves Diggs saying there isn’t a WR2 that is better than him in the NFL, which is a very confident and statistically wrong statement.

The most notable wide receiver two’s in the NFL feature George Pickens and Tee Higgins, who could both be wide receiver one on many NFL teams, and Davante Adams, who led the NFL in touchdown receptions last season. It'd be hard to argue any team would want Diggs over either of those three players, especially Pickens and Higgins.

Not to discredit Diggs’ career whatsoever, and his time with the Vikings and Bills was truly impressive as he was one of the better wide receivers in the NFL. He’s also remained an impactful, productive receiver in the NFL.

However, Higgins posted back-to-back seasons with 1,000+ yards despite having Ja’Marr Chase on the roster as a wide receiver. He would have eclipsed 1,000 yards in the last three seasons if he had been able to play a full season. In 2024 and 2025, he scored 10 and 11 touchdowns.

Additionally, Higgins shone in contested catches, not only producing as a wide receiver one, but also looking like one. Higgins is five years younger than Diggs. The former Maryland Terrapin was great in his prime, racking up 1,000-plus yards in six straight seasons with the Vikings and Bills, but had just 1,013 yards as a Patriots wide receiver last season.

So, at this point in their careers, Higgins is a much better wide receiver two than Diggs, who hasn’t spent a season as a wide receiver two since the first couple of seasons of his career. Higgins has had tons of success specifically as a wide receiver two behind Ja’Marr Chase, to the point the Bengals were willing to pay him like a wide receiver one. Also, off the field, Higgins is much less of a headache. As Diggs' career has progressed, he’s made more and more headlines, usually for negative reasons.
