Ja’Marr Chase and the Cincinnati Bengals dismantled the Arizona Cardinals 37-14 Sunday at home in Paycor Stadium. After a seven-game streak of not scoring a touchdown, Chase was able to grab two, including the first score of the game. He finished with seven receptions for 60 yards and the two touchdowns.
After being selected to his fifth-straight Pro Bowl in as many seasons, Chase also became the first ever wide receiver to post 1,000 receiving yards, 80 receptions, and seven touchdowns in each of the first five years of their career. As he continues to set NFL history, others continue to search for what else Chase can achieve.

With just one game remaining, Chase was asked if he could achieve a new career-high for receptions in a season next week.
“I ain’t getting that this year,” said a laughing Chase.
The former No. 5 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft needs just 10 receptions to tie and 11 to set a new career-high. Chase has gotten 10 or more receptions in a game 16 times throughout his career and five times this season (via StatMuse). While he was trying to remain humble, it’s definitely not out of the realm of possibility for Chase to tie his record.
The final game of the Bengals’ regular season will be against the Cleveland Browns. While Chase may be hunting a new career-high in receptions, Browns’ edge rusher Myles Garrett is chasing the all-time sacks record in NFL History. The current record, held by T.J. Watt and Michael Strahan, is 22.5, and Garrett currently has 22.0. If Chase wants to get double-digit receptions this game, he will need to get open quickly so that his star quarterback, Joe Burrow, can evade the pressure.

Following his Triple Crown win last season, Chase has had similar numbers in terms of receptions, but yards and touchdowns have been a significant dip. While he is chasing the 127 receptions he achieved last season, the former LSU Tiger has 392 fewer receiving yards and 10 fewer touchdowns than last year. In 2024, Chase became just the fifth wide receiver in the Super Bowl era to achieve the Triple Crown with 127 receptions for 1,708 yards and 17 touchdowns. Chase can also become just the fourth wide receiver to record 120 receptions in back-to-back seasons if he gets three receptions in Week 18.
