Buffalo Bills safety Cole Bishop has earned a bold prediction ahead of the 2026 season.

One player on the Bills defense who could play a key role is safety Cole Bishop. Fox Sports named Bishop as a potential breakout player in 2026.
Buffalo selected Bishop in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft and has shown improvement in his first two seasons. In his rookie year in 2024, Bishop finished with 40 total tackles, a tackle for loss, two pass deflections, and a forced fumble.
The 23-year-old became a quality starter in the 2025 season, as he had 85 total tackles, four tackles for loss, two sacks, seven pass deflections, and three interceptions. It was a huge step forward for him as he became a key piece of the defense.
As he heads into this third year, Bishop could take the next step. Bishop will also be entering a new system as the Bills hired defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard. Buffalo will need Bishop to play at a high level as they look to make a Super Bowl run.

While there were major changes to the coaching staff, the goal of winning a Super Bowl remains the same. 2024 MVP Josh Allen will lead the way after he completed 69.3 percent of his passes for 3,668 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He also rushed for 579 yards and 14 touchdowns.
The 30-year-old is one of the best players in the league, but has yet to get over the hump in the playoffs. Allen will look to lead the offense to be a top unit, but how far the Bills go in the playoffs could ultimately depend on how the defense performs.
If Bishop has a breakout season in Leonhard's defensive scheme, it could go a long way toward Buffalo making a deep run.
