Fresh defensive concerns emerge for Buffalo as key starters Terrel Bernard and Cole Bishop join the report ahead of a high-stakes Thursday night clash with Detroit’s offense.
The Buffalo Bills came out of their Week 1 win over Houston relatively unscathed, but that doesn't mean they came out perfect. With preparation for Thursday's game against the Detroit Lions already underway, Buffalo has released its first injury report for Week 2.
The team didn't have a practice on Monday, but did provide estimations of player statuses should they have taken the field.
Like last week, running back Ty Johnson (hamstring), defensive back Jordan Hancock (quad), and defensive lineman T.J. Sanders (knee) are listed. The only difference is that Hancock was listed as a full participant, while Sanders and Johnson were limited.
But it's not just those three who ended up on the list. Linebacker Terrel Bernard, safety Cole Bishop, and linebacker Bradley Chubb all appear on the chart.
Bishop is listed as dealing with a knee/groin issue, something that had him being checked out on the sideline on Sunday. Bernard, who seemed to have a foot or ankle injury against Houston, is listed as also dealing with a knee. Finally, Chubb is dealing with a thumb.
As far as status goes, both Bishop and Chubb were listed as would've been full participants had the team practiced. Bernard would've been limited.
With the next game coming up fast on Thursday, the Bills will have to get answers quickly on the game-day status of all six players. Losing any linebacker isn't going to help against a potent Lions offense, especially when it's already viewed as one of the weaker positions on the roster.
For Bishop, he's the team's best safety and him being on the field will go a long way to preventing Detroit from being able to go over the top on the defense. Being full sounds like he has to be listed based on what happened during the game, and he should be good to go for the team's home opener.
